Not so many people know, but the production line of famous UWS Levain Bakery is located on Frederick Douglass Blvd. Even though they only offer counter service and there is no seating in the bakery, it's definitely worth visiting. Their cookies, scones and banana bread are the best I ever had and you can always seat at the park and enjoy the sunshine.

Not so many people know, but the production line of famous UWS Levain Bakery is located on Frederick Douglass Blvd. Even though they only offer counter service and there is no seating in the bakery, it's definitely worth visiting. Their cookies, scones and banana bread are the best I ever had and you can always seat at the park and enjoy the sunshine.

During the day Silvana is a great arab food restaurant and coffee shop. The laid back atmosphere makes it perfect for both a quick lunch during week days, or a long brunch with friends on weekends. During the night the will open up their space downstairs, where a variety of DJs and live bands will come to play. They leave a list of artists playing along the week on a chalkboard outside. You can get an amazing view of the neighbourhood by going all the way up the stairs to Morningside Drive. It's also a great place for jogging and playing sports, or if you just want to have a less touristy experience than central park.

The best time to visit Columbia University is in the afternoon when the sun is shining. People come to hang out on the steps of Low Library and you can get a good feel of how student life goes in New York State's oldest college.
