This is about one block from the cottage, great place to people watch, ride bikes on the bike path, check out the weight lifters at Muscle Beach, visit the spot where they filmed Baywatch for years. Also some inexpensive souvenir shops

Great place for shopping, eating, and movies! Very close to the Santa Monica Pier which is a fun place to take kids, also close to Tongva Park- another kid pleaser. You'll find super high-end shops in Santa Monica Place and less expensive shops just across the street in the equally wonderful Third Street Promenade.

This is a pretty cool spot- I have to say, it's one of my favorite spots to shop and eat and see movies. Just unique and charming. Also right next to Farmers Market, which is nothing like a real Farmers Market- it's all shops and places to eat. But is a cool old part of LA history.

A MUST for Serious shoppers. Amazing and gigantic outdoor mall with restaurants, movie theaters, tons of outdoor space for the non-shoppers. This is my GO-TO place for shopping on the Westside.

So much to do here. For little ones check out "Mother's Beach" perfect for kids, with vb courts and a great playground. Plus the Cheesecake Factory restaurant is right there for the hungrys.

Go to Brooks Ave and Oceanfront Walk almost any time around sunset. Just follow the sounds of the drums. Unique! and very close and it's free, and you can join in.

These are not the most expensive but still great and close by. Also don't miss "First Fridays" on Abbot Kinney Blvd., LA's Premier Food Truck event. Go hungry! They take the entire street and turn it into a Gourmet Food Truckie's heaven.

It gives a view of the kitchen!
