In this fun introductory class you will get familiar with the potters wheel and learn what it is like to have a go at throwing. On arrival at our Studio, you’ll be warmly welcomed as you join the rest of your group. The workshop begins with a full demonstration of the pot throwing process, given by one of our expert potters. You will then be individually assigned a potter’s wheel for the duration of the workshop and its your turn to get hands-on and have fun practising your pottery skills! An experienced tutor will be on hand throughout offering practical tips and guidance. You will learn the 5 basic steps in making a pot, from centering, opening out and pulling up the walls of your pots, using specialist tools. You may create as many pots as you wish on the session, using an unlimited supply of clay. As a beginner, your pots tend to be super wobbly and often collapse but it’s all part of the fun and the normal learning curve of a potter! This is a make and take class, so at the end of the workshop you can chose your best piece to take away on the day free of charge (additional pots charged at £3). Pots can be left to airdry at home and painted if you wish.

We will start with a whirlwind overview of Oxford as the central player in 1,000 years of British history, and giving guests an understanding of how the sprawling institution operates before embarking on the tour. Navigating down the windy alleyways we will get an insiders take on the little known viewing angles that bring across the drama of the world famous architecture in this city. With striking spires and imposing buildings, we will cover how these influenced Tolkien, C S Lewis, along with Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. We will enter one of the oldest Colleges at Oxford, renowned for its beautiful gardens, before heading into one of the most famous Library's in the world - responsible for over 13 million books. Capping this off we will cover a Harry Potter film site, along with why the most powerful religious figure England has ever seen, was burnt alive in the centre of Oxford, on what is now such a nondescript part of road you could easily miss it. Please note: Colleges and the Library can shut without notice and currently they are available as of August 2021. If this changes on the day we will of course incorporate them - if we are not able to offer any access, we will offer up the option of a full refund.

Meet the Alpacas of Wetley Moor, Staffordshire

ALPACA TREKKING WITH WETLEY MOOR ALPACAS If you love enjoying a fun-filled day outdoors, at one with nature and interacting with animals, you’ve come to the right place. Wetley Moor Alpacas hosts the most incredible alpaca trekking experience that is suitable for the whole family. If you are local to Staffordshire or are visiting the area we can guarantee you’ll love what we’ve got planned for you. We offer a 60 minute experience trekking with our alpacas across the beautiful Wetley Moor Common learning about, meeting and walking our animals, with plenty of photo opportunities. This experience starts with you joining us at our farm and is going through a brief health and safety talk - taking you through all the dos and dont’s with alpacas. Next we will let you get up close and acquainted with your alpaca for the trek. We offer a 5-10 minutes introductory period to ensure you feel totally comfortable with our alpacas. This is a great time for alpaca related questions that we will be more than happy to answer. Once you are fully comfortable walking your alpaca we will head out onto Wetley Moor! This is just under a mile in distance but we walk at an alpaca pace which is usually slow and steady! Please note that the start time of your booking may vary slightly (+/- 1 hour) so please keep an eye on any communications from us to confirm your booking time.

You will arrive at the class and as a first step you will prime your canvas. Before we start to paint we apply oil based medium before we add any colour to the canvas. We will work in stages while painting and we'll have a coffee break and lunch. Afterwards, we carry on with painting until it's finished and ready for you to take it home! Other Colleges include Trinity College (the wealthiest, and home to Prince Charles), St John’s College (and it’s huge wine collection) and other iconic Cambridge Colleges - along with a true student insight on what happens inside! Not to be forgotten, *skipping the ticket office* the tour will go straight into King’s College - called so, because of the various King’s who left their stamp on arguably the most famous building at the University.

Walk alpacas around a Cotswold Manor Estate

A unique experience which combines our love of alpacas, beautiful gardens and our private grade 11 listed Cotswolds Manor estate. Our maximum group size is only 6 to ensure we can tailor our experiences to guests needs. You will meet our lovely alpacas (Frodo, Gandulf, Chewy, Twiglet, Eeyore, Pippin, Whisky, Merry, Legolas and Gimli). We will explain the characteristics of these lovely animals and teach you how to handle them and feed them. Each guest is matched to a particular alpaca. The majority of this experience is the walking of your around our 16th century Manor Estate. The walk is more of a gentle stroll, as we appreciate both the beautiful gardens and many historic features of the Estate; our medieval stocks, a Tudor barn, a lake, a walled garden with a fountain in our Koi pond and a large orchard. At the end of the experience you will have the opportunity to spend some free time interacting with the alpacas up close, off the lead in our alpaca field. We end with a refreshing glass of home-made apple juice.
