While retaining the character of the villa, the house has been lovingly restored to create thoughtful sunny spaces in a home away from home. 5 minute stroll down the hill and you are in the village of Akaroa where you will find an abundance of fine local restaurants, unique shops and activities. Kanuka Retreat

Kanuka Cottage is a rustic, tastefully decorated cottage set in a kanuka wood. It provides absolute privacy and has all the amentities for a quiet 'away from it' retreat. Basic kitchenette , luxury bathroom and wonderful decks with peaceful sounds of the stream and abundant birdlife. The cottage has a king bed with quality linen and a blissful latex mattress. Cosy warm with a backup portable heater. Located at Grehan Valley Farm a fews minutes drive from central Akaroa a 10 minute walk.

Here in the country garden stream side setting of the former Herb Farm (New Zealand's first opened in 1976) you will find the original cottage with the ground floor studio/bed sitting room and adjoining parlour. Relax and enjoy the special setting of flowers, wishing well, native bird life, frogs, friendly free range chooks, ducks on the pond and a great night sky. All just a 15 minute stroll to the village and seaside.
