Channel the pursuit of pause in this one-of-a-kind earth house. The cozy retreat was hand-sculpted using local and sustainable natural materials, and features a central living space with cantilevered slab stairs leading to the loft bedroom. Guests have access to the entire cottage and surrounding property. We live in the neighbouring house, and are happy to give advice or answer questions to help you make the most of your stay. The neighborhood is quite rural and mostly agricultural with several farms and a small private vineyard. The home is a 10 minute walk from the beach and a 20 minute walk from a family grocery and deli specializing in local organic produce. Mayne Island has a small community bus. Times and routes are limited, particularly in the winter. It will stop at the driveway. We also have an official hitch hiking system with signed Car Stops where you can wait for a ride. Usually you don't have to wait long. We are happy to offer pickup and drop off at the ferry dock as a courtesy to encourage car-free travellers, on days when the community bus is not running. Please let us know ahead of time that you'll be coming without your own transportation, and we will make sure that either we or the community bus (which will drop you off at our driveway) are there to meet you when your ferry arrives. The BC Ferries terminals near Victoria and Vancouver are easily reachable via public transit from their respective airports and downtowns.

Hidea bed on main level**only suitable for 1 person sleeping on** has a 50 inch TV & Small/Full kitchen & bathroom with shower on the main flr. 5 minutes from the village of Cowichan Bay, with local shops and plenty of choices for dining. We are 15 minutes from the town of Duncan and 35 minutes from Victoria and about 45 minutes from the Nanaimo Duke point ferry.

Our heritage home is only 5 minutes to downtown and 15 minutes to the Cowichan District hospital. The "HH Garden Suite", is situated in the heart of the Cowichan Valley's mountain - biking area and is no more than a ten minute drive to any of the three mountains that valley bikers boast of! South-facing, 300 square foot, self-contained room with a private hot tub and ocean view. Situated on 10 lovely acres near Dinner Bay park, this studio on the ground floor of the main house has a private entry through french doors off of the covered deck. Perfect for a couple (not suitable for children) or a solo Gulf Island getaway. There is no kitchen, but the room includes a small fridge with freezer, BBQ, microwave, toaster, coffee and tea. Restaurants and shops are a 10 min drive away.

Step Inn Stones is a delightful, private entry suite located in the quaint Historical Village of Cowichan Bay, BC. Located on a no-through road above the village with a beautiful ocean view for a tranquil getaway, we are a five-minute walk to fine dining, shops, pubs, marinas and more. Our newly renovated suite has a small kitchenette, bar counter with a view, new comfy queen sized bed, seating for relaxing, reading and TV watching and a bathroom with heated floors and a rain head shower.

Welcome to our listing and the Cowichan Valley. We overlook Quamichan Lake, and are located midway between salt water at Maple Bay and the city of Duncan (each are a six minute drive away). We are also midway between Nanaimo and Victoria (1 hour drives). For bikers and hikers the Mt. Tzoulhalem (Kaspa Road) trailhead is 600m away (we provide bike lockup). Our rate is for 2 guests. Additional guests are $50 per night. Sorry, we're not child-proofed.
