“Where to even start about Paola's place?! Overall, we had the most amazing trip, and I think I would rate this as one of the best Airbnb's we have ever stayed at! However, I will write this review with full honesty, in hopes to help future guests better plan their stay. Before our trip, we had great communication with Paola. She was very responsive and when the room we originally wanted was unavailable for 1 out of our 3 nights, she offered for us to stay in one room for one night, and move us to the room we wanted for the remainder nights. That was unnecessary as there was another beautiful room available for all 3 nights, which we were more than happy to stay in, but we really appreciated her willingness to make sure we got what we wanted! We had arrived around 1:45 pm and were unclear whether we were able to check-in early. We had a hard time finding the actual building. When you arrive to the location on the map, you will see a sign that says "Charme in Perillis 100 m". However, at that point you will be at a fork in the road. Two roads lead into more houses, and the furthest one on the right just leads to the back of the building that is there. You will want to take the road that is furthest to the left (you will see a "trucks forbidden" sign) and go all the way up until you reach the end. The Airbnb is the last building at the end. There may be parking spaces up there, but if not, there is a small parking lot at the bottom of the fork. We had a slightly difficult time communicating when we arrived early and how to find the place, but once we had better communication, it was all good. Airbnb states that check-in is at 3 pm, but we were told through texts that check-in was at 4 pm. Not sure if that was for additional COVID cleaning measures, but I encourage guests to double check. Since we had some time to kill, we decided to try to find some lunch. The next closest town, down the mountain is about 15 minutes driving from the Airbnb. By the time we had check-in clarified and drove down, all restaurants were closed after lunch. So we decided to drive about an hour away to Pescara to find some food. After getting some food and wandering around Pescara, we decided to pick up some aperitivo type foods at a grocery store there, since we knew that driving back out to find dinner could be a challenge. We eventually checked into the Airbnb around 5:30 pm. Paola greeted us at check-in and showed us to our room. I would note, that learning some basic Italian or at least having a translator app would be useful. Paola also asked if we had any allergies since they do serve breakfast. I am vegan and informed her of that and she made a DELICIOUS vegan tart for breakfast. On top of the large variety of fruits, breads, jams, and juices. The room itself was gorgeous and very romantic! The view was spectacular! There was just so much character in the room, that it seriously felt like a fairytale. From the heated floors, to the stand alone tub, to the king size bed (which is rare to find in Italy). Oh and the decadent soaps and shampoo were incredible! There was a bottle of wine, a bottle of natural water, and a bottle of fizzy water in the room. There was a lack of communication on our part, as we assumed that the bottle of wine was included for free with the room. It turns out we had to pay 12 euro afterwards for consuming that bottle, which was totally fine! But we had brought our own wine with us, and had we known, we probably wouldn't have drank the bottle. Again, Paola did mention all these things at the beginning, I just misunderstood (still learning Italian haha!) Our room was cleaned every day around 10:30 am and we were given fresh towels and wine glasses daily. Besides breakfast, food was the only other thing we had difficulty with. There is no mini fridge or stove in the room, so bringing your own food can be a challenge. As stated before, there is a town at the bottom of the mountain about 15 minutes driving from the Airbnb. The one night we tried to get dinner at a recommended restaurant, it was all booked. Our fault for not making a reservation. We ended up stopping at a pizza place which wasn't the best. We currently live in the Naples area, so we are biased! 2 out of the 3 nights, we ended up just getting a piece of focaccia, some prosciutto, some olives and maybe a salad and a bottle of wine, and eat it in the room for dinner. All that being said, we seriously had one of the most amazing times there. Our goal was to escape the city, the noise, the pollution, and the crowds of people. And we did just that. Being up in the mountains was the ultimate relaxing experience. And all the people we did run into, from Paola, to the gas station attendant, to the grocery store staff, were all incredibly friendly! We would 100% stay at Paola's place in the future! We may just bring a portable stove and a cooler with us next time! Thank you Paola for the amazing experience and we hope to stay with you again soon!”
