Unique stand alone stone cottage located on a hillock in the middle of 250 acres of tea plantation. This private property farmstay offers seclusion, safety and total privacy with sweeping views of the tea estate overlooking the valley and its surrounding hills. As it is a working farm our guests can participate in the daily activities of tea picking while in season, explore our vegetables and flower gardens, pick and cook fresh fruits and vegetables or wander about endlessly across the estate.

Villa Shivalay is a beautiful, quaint solar-powered bungalow, with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms for 6-7 guests. It has a lovely lawn with a garden. The place is only 45 mins from the Kaziranga National park, 60 mins from Hollongapar Gibbon sanctuary and 30 mins from the Jorhat airport. We can organize safaris for guests. Your hosts Bina and Prakash (my parents) live upstairs and will treat you to lovely vegetarian meals with ingredients sourced from their private organic farm behind the house.

If you're a writer, an artist, or you're engaged with any creative form, you will love the quiet environs we offer. Personally, I am a writer and editor, and this is my haven when I am in Jorhat. My parents live next door in their bungalow. The gated community, christened Topuban, was purchased by my maternal grandparents in 1956. Each of their children inherited plots of land. My parents are one of only two households, of the original family, that now live here permanently.

Renovated in 2022, this property has been part of our family for the last 200 years. We are excited to welcome you to our personal heritage and to the heritage of Assam. The Sumola House is located at a village and people who want a calm environment will enjoy here. This place has a beautiful garden where the guest can sit there and have a bonfire in a winter night.
