Joe’s place is absolutely unique. What an experience it is to fall asleep to a sound of tropical forest and rain. The treehouse is cozy and full of surprises such as half indoor /half outdoor bathroom and beautiful hand crafted wooden furniture. Just keep in mind that the place is kind of isolated so make sure to stock up on groceries in pahoa village or eat on the way to the treehouse. Joe recommended fish market which we absolutely loved. Joe was a great host. Responsive, accommodating and helpful.

We loved this beautiful crafted home. The craftsmanship is so amazing and awesome! Joe and his little dog were a joy to talk with and very helpful. Joe has one heck a drill too!😂 Very private and so peaceful. Loved the bath tub! We actually cried when we left this peaceful home. We would love to come back someday. Best three weeks ever! Mahalo

Joe's place was fantastic! The location is out of this world. The beautiful stars at night along with the singing frogs, absolutely peaceful. This place is tucked away nicely and the perfect hideaway getaway with an amazing black sand beach near by. It has a great indoor outdoor living feel and it was nice having a bbq. Great night market near by with live musical and local vendors. The place is warm during the day but nice and cool at night with the fans. Don't let the lack of AC keep you away! It was fantastic and definitely a vacation for the books. Will definitely be back! Also Buster the dog was so cute! And all the other little geckos!

Arrived at night and the place didn't seem to have much in the way of outside lighting, so had to use cell phone light, not a huge deal. Overall lighting situation inside took a bit to figure out and was not super bright but adequate. The space has an indoor/outdoor feel, washrooms are semi outdoors which takes some getting used to but wasn't a problem at all and we grew to prefer it in most circumstances. We really loved all the jungle sounds (mostly frogs), view of the stary sky and jungle outside the bedroom was fantastic and will be missed. Lots of character overall in the space. There is a large amount of screened windows and it wasn't that hot out so we had not issues being without A/C during the time we stayed. It's priced well for what you get, and the local black sand beach is hard to beat, it's just a bit of a steeper walk (no issue for us). Riding down the dead end road along the ocean is great, very little traffic down that way and overall just a nice peaceful area!
