We stayed in Debendra's family home for nearly three weeks, following a brief stay at his other AirBnB listing, Cocina Mitho Chaa. If you're looking for a great place to stay in the heart of Kathmandu, check out CMC (really). If, on the other hand, you're looking to stay in a beautiful family home on the edge of town, this is the place. The neighborhood is great: cleaner and quieter than central Kathmandu; not a tourist to be found; nestled into the beautiful green foothills; close to monasteries and a national park. The place itself is even better. It has a clean and functional kitchen, wifi (intermittently), hot water, terraces, and more space than we needed. There were no other guests during our stay, so we had the whole second story of the (four story) house to ourselves; it was our own private apartment. Though it's not in the heart of the city, you can be in Thamel after a 3USD/15min taxi ride. The best part about this place, though, is Debendra and his family. They welcomed us like old friends and were generous beyond compare. We even received some cooking lessons from Debendra's lovely wife, Narbina : ) So, if you want to escape the tourist hustle-bustle for someplace clean, comfortable, and welcoming, stay here.
