Good throrugh abd quick service if you have a question. Staying in bamboo compound feels like you are living art. Ive went two years in a row!!! Also listening to the waves at night is soothing. I love it there.

An amazing place! Steps away from the beach, about as far from Honolulu traffic as you can get, and yet easy access to the North Shore. The night-time stars and sounds of the surf were incredible. And our own local seal.

When I arrived to the bamboo compound i instantly felt pure zen and aloha spirit. Makaha beach is awesome. Experienced this break when there was some swell and the vibe at the beach was incredible with wave after wave to be caught. Definitely would visit again!

The neighborhood is peaceful. At times there was nighttime party noise (from people who had been drinking probably) at the "compound" that we assumed came from friends of the people living in the main house. Nothing major. Just an fyi. We did enjoy our stay, & I personally didn't care about the noise, but my fiancee at times was annoyed because we spent our days hiking & at beaches, so she was keen on getting sleep. Not to say she couldn't sleep lol. Everything was in working order. Birds come by in the morning tapping on the roof & chirping, singing. The wind noise & wave noise were pleasant for us. There's some poverty & homelessness in towns nearby. We enjoyed the Hawaii sovereignty flags & propaganda we saw around the surrounding area. Everyone we came across was friendly toward us &/or let us have our peace, though we were accosted for money a couple times-- to be expected.

The cabana is amazing! Right next to the beach, we’ll equipped with everything you need. No a/c, but plenty of fans a d cool breezes. Really wonderful experience!
