If you can’t do stone steps with a rope handrail, this place isn’t for you. But if you are looking for an experience that provides a sense of what it was like to live in a traditional Cretan home, then this is the place for you. This amazing home is the most unique airbnb we’ve stayed at. The host is very accommodating and his mother is the sweetest woman, providing traditional bread and cheese pastry. A truly wonderful experience! The GPS took us to a church. But the locals know where the Eco house is. We walked back to a Taverna, and the Eco House was right next door (up a stone path).

An amazing home that is bursting with stories and history, as is the village and the people of Meronas. We enjoyed exploring the Rethymno region and taking in the beautiful views. Lots of beds for our kids to choose from and gracious hospitality from K Eleftheria.

We stayed at Manolis' place in the mountains for a couple of days. It's along drive to get there but it is worth it: A wonderful, comfortable house with a lot of lovely details, that makes you feel very welcome and at home. There are great views all around and in the nice little village there is a lovely tavern and a nice little kafenion. We would recommend it to everyone who wants to discover a special place that is quiet and soothing. Manolis also seems like a great guy who has a lot of good tipps and helps you with everything you need. We loved it.

We had such a happy time at the Eco-House. It's the most original and imaginative house we've ever stayed in., with interesting and curious features to surprise and delight whichever way you look. Above all, it exudes warmth and welcome. The layout is intriguing with several small stairways inside and out, interconnecting bedrooms, bathrooms and terraces on multiple levels. Much of the furniture is traditional and the wooden doors are museum pieces. But, don't worry, the bathrooms and kitchen have modern fitting and appliances! It must represent decades of loving and thoughtful restoration plus sensitive new building. We were greeted with a bottle of the house wine with glasses and candles set out, a cake, a home-baked loaf, generous bowls of fruit and tomatoes, and most of the breakfast basics in the fridge or on the shelves. As if this were not enough, Emmanouil's mother brought us warm, fresh-baked pastries in the mornings. Unmatched hospitality!
