Polloch · 整套民居 · 6室0床2.5卫 · 可住11人 · Glenhurich Lodge
A much loved family holiday home situated in the idyllic wilderness of the Scottish Highlands. Nestled between Loch Shiel and Beinn Resipol, this prior hunting lodge offers a great base for cycling, kayaking, hill climbing, and — simply leaving the world behind. Whether traveling with extended family or holidaying with a group of friends, Glenhurich is the perfect destination to reconnect with the great outdoors and with one another. Dating back to the 1860s, Glenhurich lodge has had many former lives. A school, a hunting lodge, an academic retreat. Today, it is a family home, recently remodelled with great pains taken to retain its original character. The house is comfortably outfitted with a large kitchen for hosting gatherings and a beautiful garden with pizza oven and seating for outdoor dining. For indoor entertainment there is a ping pong room, board games, large library of films and a cozy fire in the lounge. Of the 6 bedrooms, 4 are king beds, 1 is a twin and 1 is a single. For those wishing to work remotely, we have recently upgraded our internet to Starlink which specialises in bringing high speed internet to remote settings. For those requiring step-free access, there is a ground floor king bedroom and adjacent bathroom with both tub and step-in shower.
Remote , tranquil location. Andrew very responsive host and replies to all your queries without delay. Cliff and Marilyn the housekeepers were very helpful too.
Lovely lodge for a family vacation! Quite the drive to get there when the ferry isn’t running, but other than that a great place! Andrew kept us updated with information and answered any questions we had in a matter of hours. Absolutely recommend!
We loved our stay at Andrew’s place. The surrounding area is just beautiful with plenty of wild swimming spots. The perfect place to escape and spend a few days in nature!
My sister's family from Denmark and mine from England came together and had a wonderful time together. Plenty of room in the cosy lounge to chat and play games. Loved the big kitchen where we could all eat together. Ping ping was a fun bonus. We walked to the Loch and swam. The area is just beautiful. We were sad to leave. Thanks so much for letting out this lovely property
Glenhurich can be found in the small hamlet of Polloch, which is surrounded by a temperate rainforest — a rare ecosystem of lichen, moss and fungi.
Whether on foot, bike, or kayak, there’s a plethora of ways to explore Loch Shiel and Beinn Resipol. Several trails start at the lodge’s back door and vary in terms of level of difficulty and duration. The cycle route along Loch Shiel is renowned for its views and conspicuous absence of cars. And the loch pontoon provides access for wild swimming. While remote, the area is popular amongst local nature and outdoor enthusiasts.
The approach from the south comes via the stunningly atmospheric Glencoe - a must see for any visitor to the Scottish Highlands. Other areas of interest include the Glenfinnan Viaduct (of Harry Potter fame) and Castle Tioram on the shores of Loch Moidart. For beach lovers, the Ardnamurchan Peninsula offers the opportunity to visit Sanna Bay, known as one of Britain's most beautiful beaches. And of course, Ben Nevis in Fort William.
Local seafood abounds as does a burgeoning whiskey and craft beer scene.
The area around Glenhurich Lodge is perfect for walking and cycling with very quiet ‘end of the road’ experience on both the public road and the tracks and paths
