I enjoyed my stay with Clare very much. It was extremely easy to find her home as Cockermouth is very compact and easy to get around, and Clare’s building is no more than a 5 minute walk from Main St. (and from Wordsworth’s birth place). Clare was not at home when I arrived but she has a convenient lockbox at the front entrance, and her instructions were very clear. Her flat is located at the top of the building, but there is a lift and then a short (newly carpeted) staircase up to her level. The building is well managed and the surroundings are safe. Inside Clare’s flat it is clean but eclectic - her character shines through. The guest bed is firm and comfortable, and I was able to enjoy several early sunrises from the high vantage her flat offers. Clare is relaxed and friendly, but she also gives one space. She had left several Guides in the bedroom, and she offered further suggestions when we met. Both were valuable, and I would be very happy to stay with Clare again.

I really enjoyed my stay at Clare’s home. It was on my part for not reading the extensive listing for not realising it was a 5th story apartment but in a beautifully converted Mill. I arrived before Clare and found my way to the apartment. It was very homely. I loved the character of the space, the house plants, and the way her home is full of items collected from her travels. Clare was very accommodating, friendly and interesting to chat with when our paths crossed. I felt very at home having not really planned my stay as I was just there while my daughter was visiting her dads family and had initially planned to work. However I set out to explore some local cycling while there and the town. There are some great shops and walks from the door. Just bear in mind how big/heavy your bag is as even if you use the lift there are still 2 flights of stairs. Overall highly recommended for a stay.

Enjoyed three night stay, had complete freedom of the apartment - especially the kitchen, comfortable bed though quilt too warm (individual thing) super views of Cockermouth, castle and fells from bedroom, shower best ever strong flow and immediate stable heat, would book again ..
