This is a quiet neighborhood: very rarely you will hear noises late at night.
Please bear in mind that this is a 1900 building, retaining most of its original features. The entrance might feel a bit "dark", but this is the real spirit of the city, full of history and mistery!
I have been living around the corner for about 4 years, and loved this location! It is quiet, and at the same time very convenient to reach the city centre. The nearest bus stop is literally across the road, and it takes less than 10 minutes to reach Princess Street.
A 7/7 supermarket is located 2-3 minutes away, and it is open from 8am till 10pm.
Arthur's Seat is very close: I would definetly go for a walk up there, and enjoy the beautiful view of the city it has to offer.
The Holyrood Palace is minutes away too, and so is the Scottish Parliament and The Royal Mile!

The public transports in Edinburgh work very well. Buses are frequent and take you everywhere in the city. The nearest bus stop is literally across the road, and in less than 10 minutes you are in Princess Street!
Even if you decided to walk, it would take 22-25 minutes to go and come back from the centre.
From the airport, you can either take a taxi to the apartment (about 30 minutes, costing about £20-25), or take the Airlink bus n. 100 and get off when it stops in front of the Waverley Train Station. From there, in less than 5 minutes by taxi you arrive at the apartment.
Alternatively, the new Edinburgh Tram will take you to York Place; from there, either a local bus or a taxi will get you to the apartment in less than 10 minutes.
