Temple Cloud · 民居里的独立房间 · 1室2床1.0卫 · 可住4人 · Rockaway House- Self contained Apartment
This private apartment is one of 3 accessed via an indoor courtyard (atrium), all set in a self built Eco house, surrounded by woods, gardens, fabulous art and artists, scrap, workshops, walks, etc, etc... if you are in need of creative inspiration or encouragement , or you just want a quiet couple of nights in the country.. That's us!! We are 10 miles from Bath and Bristol. Close to Glastonbury, Wells, Stonehenge. Perfect for creatives wanting to get to know this part of the world better This apartment has a double bed with en suite bathroom, plus self-contained kitchen and capacity to sleep 2 others on a fold out bed/settee. There is a communal bathroom just next to the room in case you don't fancy the kids, or your friends walking through your bedroom to get to the en-suite. What makes it unique ? Well, what doesn't? First of all I would suggest reading some of our reviews. We are very proud to have over 1000 reviews across our 3 listings, and you won’t find many that are unhappy :-). Rockaway is a fairly unique location and any rudimentary search of the internet will tell you so. There are probably not many places like this (in England at least)... It's more like a West Coast USA house as seen in Lloyd Khans amazing books (look him up). This is our own self-built eco house set in 5 or 6 acres of its own land. The house itself is in a private area, and is very quiet and borders on to our fledgling forest/community garden, but within the grounds of the overall property there are many other spaces including a therapy suite ( you can book separately for massage, acupuncture, hypnotherapy etc) , workshops for metal and woodwork, recording and rehearsal studio, a vegan cafe, gig venue, The Chapel of Unrest, a huge and eclectic collection of obscure artefacts from aeroplanes to gypsy caravans, and anything in between!! Guests are very welcome, and indeed encouraged to have a look around and get involved with any, all ,or none of this. If you just want to go and sit on the swing in the garden and stare out across the views, you are more than welcome. It is also home to upwards of 20 other people who are engaged in work with circus/ festivals and events management. There is solar hot water/electric and much more being added daily. There is always something new at Rockaway! If you're looking for somewhere fastidiously neat and tidy or you're scared of spiders it's probably not for you , but if you like what you see, we'd love to have you here ....,( although of course we do our best to keep it neat and tidy, I am just trying to put off really fussy guests :-) We like to think we understand the ethos of Airbnb and the desire to change the world for the better by encouraging conversation and the sharing of ideas. We have found the whole experience to be thoroughly rewarding and we hope you will too. Please note we have other rooms available in the house, . and we are able to accommodate extra people, so if you're traveling with kids or friends and think our listed rooms are too small to fit all of you, please enquire. Look forward to meeting you. Mark and Marta
The place had such a chill vibe. Felt at comfortable and at home really quickly. The decor is insane and unique. Marta and others who were living and working on the property were lovely and sociable. Not to mention a lovely cat to keep you company who loved the attention! Would love to come back and show friends this place.
We booked a last minute stay at Marta’s place and she was very quick to respond to us which was lovely. The place was like nothing we’ve ever stayed at before, very unique and our kids loved the friendly cat 😊🩷
What a great spot. The place Marta and co have created is incredible. So pleased to have been able to share their space for a few nights. Our 5yo loved every second. The food from the cafe is so great too.
Such a great space - Rockaway Park was an absolute treasure to find for our family (with two 4 year olds). Lovely private space as well as a shared seating area. Then the yard was a feast for the eyes, we enjoyed visiting this multiple times! Thank you so much Marta and Mark - a delightful stay. Definitely recommending to friends.
The house is set in approx 6-7 acres of land part of which used to be a scrapyard and some of which we still run as such. There are woods and great walks very close by and good bus connections for Bristol, Bath, Wells and Glastonbury. We are about half a mile from the village of Temple Cloud in a secluded, redundant stone quarry. There are mature oak trees all around the house and the site.
There are various activities happening in the adjacent yard, including a vegan cafe, music studio, solar powered block printing, a barber shop... If you're looking for inspiration or looking to meet people to help further your ideas and plans , we may be able to point you in the right direction or hook you up with the right people... I'm hoping that the B and B will just help to make further and far reaching connections and not just be a soulless interaction... Of course though we are just as happy for people to come and just chill.
Tourist attractions in the area include: Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury Tor, Roman Baths, Wells Cathedral, Wooky Hole Caves, Bristol city and all it's attractions from amazing graffiti art to Brunel's architectural achievements.
Public transport: direct buses to/from Bristol (376, 379, closest stop Cameley Surgery), Bath (178, closest stop Claremont Gardens), Wells and Glastonbury (376, closest stop Cameley Surgery).
If you are arriving at Bristol airport, we are 11 miles away.. you can take a taxi or we are happy to arrange to collect or deliver you from/to there.. it is approximately half an hours drive .
自我介绍
I moved from Poland to the UK in 1998 and lived in London until a few years ago when I met my partner Mark and ditched the city to become a country girl. I always loved the countryside and spending as much time outdoors as possible, so the only thing that could make me happier is to be able to make a living out of it! We have plenty of space to share. Up until I moved here I was always planning the next trip to somewhere, I spent nearly half of my time traveling. I loved discovering new places and going back to the familiar ones, changing the scene, the climate, the food, the people... but now I just can't get enough of staying at home! I enjoy gardening, films (I worked in a cinema in London for 15 years), reading (many different things), live music, vegan cooking, exercising, but also just good old house keeping - cleaning and improving the space and making people feel good in it. I try to keep a healthy lifestyle and be as self sufficient as possible. We also rent out apartments in Morocco, Essaouira, so please get in touch if interested!
