Burgundy and particularly Cluny is very worth visiting. In less then 30 minutes you walk from the rural location of the accommodation to the center of Cluny (though we mostly did by car!). Staying in the converted farm next to the chateau of the owners is an experience. Especially the use of the large and natural looking pool (limited times!) in the flower garden with view on Cluny is unforgettable. The equipment of the appartment is sufficient but rather basic. Your privat balcony is small, but additional there is enough common space to use. The sound insulation of the walls between the appartments is moderately. Be aware that the accommodation is dog friendly. As not dog owners we had to tune in to the presence of dogs of the owners and the other guests.

Frederique was a welcoming host and fast and friendly communicator. She speaks many languages! The apartments are within a converted farm building, next to the chateau, which is beautiful. The gardens and surrounding countryside and nearby woodlands are excellent for walking. The swimming pool is amongst the most beautiful I have ever seen, cleaned regularly, and with nice chairs and sun loungers and shade to relax in. It is 1 min walk from the apartment. Cluny is 5 minutes drive, or about 25 minutes walk. Lovely little historic town, with plenty of shops and restaurants. Good hiking, eating and cycling in the region. A lovely place to visit. We would recommend the restaurant La Petite Auberge. The apartment is furnished to a high quality with new appliances etc. The kitchen has most basic items that you would need for cooking. Note there is no microwave, dishwasher or toaster. Not a problem for most people, just be aware. There are two issues we were less happy about: 1) The apartment we were given was not the same as the one in the photos. Probably the same quality, but nonetheless different. Perhaps a little darker and warmer (less windows). We asked the host about this but the explanation was not very helpful in our opinion. 2) We would not stay in these apartments in summer again unless a fan was provided. We recommend you buy a fan (30 euros?). There is not enough ventilation to cool the rooms, even at night time, even with all the windows and the front door wide open. We asked Frederique about providing a fan (twice), for us and for future guests, but the answer seems to be no, at least for now. Apparently it was unusually hot when we were there, but even still the upstairs bedroom lacks ventilation. We tried to buy a fan in Cluny but they were all sold out. It was so warm in the upstairs bedroom that we slept with our mattress on the ground floor next to the open front door. I am not a frail english man - I grew up in the tropics. It was hot. We think it was good value for money and a very nice place to stay. If you like French countryside, rustic but comfortable style, this is a great place to stay. We took our dog and had a wonderful time. We would have given 5 stars if more effort was made in resolving, explaining, apologising about the issues above. I gave a fair chance for this to be explained by email. If you have mobility problems with stairs, these apartments may not be suitable for you - check before booking.

The gite was clean and comfortable and we were delighted to find that it was on the grounds of a stunning chateau, which made sunbathing by the pool a particularly pleasurable experience. Frederique was away during our stay, but her friend Luc gave us a warm welcome, and he was a real character. Would love to come again!
