What a wonderful place to enjoy the natural world. The setting is private and the house is comfortable and has lots of room for everyone. The beds we slept in were very comfortable. We found the hosts to be very responsive and accommodating to our needs.

We held our family reunion here. It was adventure filled and forested. The kids loved the outdoor walkway to the dock and the tree swing. There were 18 of us and they had a hard time accommodating us. But we really appreciated that we were able to be all together. We had a few problems: the refrigerator and freezer in the main house didn’t work the whole week so we had to use the cottage refrigerator, and the stove in the main house struggled. It’s an old classic house but did the job

Where do I start home was exactly as described if your not into being in secluded location this is probably not the house for you but for us it was perfect. The hosapwee plantation offers a great tour that is very informative about area which we enjoyed. We enjoyed the local town of Georgetown while we were there can’t beat the local food at some of these restaurants particularly (rolling local) and (pawleys raw bar) we’re two of our favorites. The dock at the house was a very nice addition we did plenty of fishing and just sitting back taking a break from everything. Only thing I can say bad we had in the whole thing was the dang mosquitos which we know are like the state bird in that area just bring plenty of bug spray and you will be alright but other than that thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will hopefully return in the winter sometime.

Santee House is private & quiet. Property is in need of maintenance: landscaping, brush cleared. Boardwalk to river is hazardous & needs cleaning, my husband slipped and fell on it. There are no handrails so you could easily fall into the marsh. Location and character of the home is great, but could be much better; it needs a thorough cleaning & the yard needs thorough maintenance. Some minor details need to be addressed, for example there is no shower curtain liner in the downstairs bathroom - curtain is fabric and water easily leaks out onto bathroom floor. The property is very convenient to the boat landing which was nice b/c we brought our boat. I think the property could be great with some much needed attention and TLC.
