The cottage was lovely, the whole grounds is great and the staff on-site to welcome you and are on call for any issues, all are very friendly and helpful. The house is huge, lovely and clean with everything you will need. There is a large garden area out the front of the cottage that the kids could run around freely on, and lots of great walks around the grounds that you are free to explore including river walks, scenic views etc. during the summer this place would be wonderful for family gatherings with access to the pool etc too. Kitchen is well stocked of cooking aids for baking and hosting. We had a 3 and 5 year old with us and it was great safe house for them, and everyone was very friendly with plenty of room indoors and out. If booking for a family the downstairs double room is great for less able people but there are 2 steps to that part of the house. The house has wonderful antiques and decorations so well behaved children is essential. Great place highly recommend

Last minute change of plans which turned into a fantastic weekend away. Lovely property, fully equipped and friendly and responsive hosts. Would definitely return.

The place and space is stunning. The pool was a massive hit with all of us as was the 'freedom'. We loved our river walks. It felt as though we had the opportunity to experience a 'different world' for a couple of days. We were able to make contact during our stay if we had any queries or requirements. It was a memorable time and and a very special weekend.

Merrick’s house was homely and beautiful! The best thing is the sitting room which is 6 x 6.5m and beautifully decorated in English country style. It was big enough for our party of 7 to not feel cramped and enough seats for everyone. The kitchen is very pretty and extremely well equipped. One of the best things was the interiors. I really would give it a 10 out of 10. The details such as the doorways, the architrave, the wallpaper et cetera were all exquisitely done. The master bedroom is very cosy and beautifully done. There’s also a nice dining room for formal dining. The tennis court is great, and if the landlord provides rackets and balls. The swimming pool is long and deep, although, as it is England - and August - it was too cold to swim, unless you’re very brave. (The children were able to cope with the temperature and were able to swim.) There are also two very picturesque lakes about one minute’s walk away. We thoroughly recommend Merrick’s place! :-)
