Our beautiful apartment is a blend of classic Downtown LA history and style, with modern comforts. The building is an exquisitely preserved Historic Cultural Monument. A true two-bedroom+two-bath, the unit is well suited for a single guest or a maximum of six. This unit has THREE balconies, full of natural light and views of DTLA's historical architecture. All rooms have roll-down shades, furnished with wood furniture and artwork by downtown LA artists. The building has excellent sound-proofing. This unit is a big space, with natural light coming in from three sides. Two south-facing balconies overlook the Spring Street Park, and the west-facing historic balcony overlooks Spring St. The Master Bedroom faces on to the Spring Street and has a ton of light in the morning. It is dreamy to fall asleep there looking out the floor-to-ceiling sliding doors onto the neon signs of Spring Street. If you prefer a dark room for sleeping, the smaller bedroom behind double French doors is very quiet. The whole building has excellent sound-proofing. When all doors and windows are closed, you cannot hear any noise from the outside (one of our favorite things about this unit when we lived there). The unit also has washer + dryer, all basic kitchen appliances+utensils, cleaning supplies, bathroom supplies, new bedding, mattress covers and towels purchased in 2023. The living room couch opens into a full-size sleeper, if you need an extra bed.
Had the best time staying at Uli's place downtown. It's a clean, chic, and spacious apartment with plenty of storage, so great for longer stays, which is what I needed. Convenient location, next to a dog park, walking distance from Grand Central Market, great restaurants, Little Tokyo, etc. and I felt absolutely safe in the building/guard on call. Uli's super responsive as well, and she owns a Gelato place nearby, which was an extra plus!
This is a wonderful apartment in a lovely secure building. I spent several weeks here and enjoyed the wide variety of entertainment, cultural, and food options in the area. The space is well appointed and I can't think of anything that was missing- the kitchen is especially well-equipped. Uli was an attentive host, respectful of privacy yet immediately responsive to any requests. Downtown LA can be a very busy and lively place, at all hours, but I found the apartment to be very quiet and peaceful with the windows closed. Highly recommended!
The unit is at the heart of Downtown LA’s vibrant city center. The ground floor of the building has a French restaurant – Le Petit Paris. Immediately next to the building is a park with a playground. Some of the city's best restaurants are around the corner – our favorites are Bar Ama, Bottega Louie and Maccheroni Republic. Walking distance to Whole Foods market, Civic Center, Grand Central Market and Bunker Hill. Also close to the Music Center, Walt Disney Hall, Broad Museum for your fill of culture. Staples center is a brisk 15-20 min walk or a 3-min drive away.
Public transport opportunities are abound. Two blocks away from the Metro red/purple line Pershing square station. One block away from the Historic Broadway Station (Regional Connector) – convenient to Hollywood, Koreatown, Long Beach, Santa Monica.
But the best thing about this location is the ability to walk to some of the best cultural and culinary gems LA has to offer.
