Aggies Cottage is a 3 bedroom 17th Century stable which has been beautifully renovated into a stunning countryside cottage sleeping 6 people. The conversion has preserved the original beams and Maryland tiles connecting the old with the new, only a short drive from the coast you can enjoy day trips to the beach before returning to your charming cottage for a relaxing evening with the family. There are a number of beautiful walks on your doorstep to keep the whole family entertained. Inside Aggie's Cottage from it's own private entrance, you will discover plenty of period charm with wood beams and sloping ceiling. A galley kitchen is well-equipped for a stress free self catering break, and leads onto a delightful lounge/dining area with a large corner sofa, TV with DVD player, as well as a large dining table that comfortably seats 6 guests. From this living area, at the bottom of the stairs you will find a bathroom with an original cast iron roll top bath, and upstairs is a double bedroom with a standard double bed, plenty of storage, and views out of a dormer window stretching towards the sea. Back downstairs through the living area and galley kitchen, three steps lead up to further bedrooms and a second bathroom. The first bedroom is a twin room, perfect for adults and children, and the second bedroom is a spacious double bedroom with a king-sized bed. Both bedrooms are connected to a ground floor bathroom fitted with a shower, WC and wash basin. Aggie's Cottage has its own private garden area where guests can enjoy alfresco dinners or a summer BBQ. Alternatively, the grounds are available to wonder at your leisure and feature a children's play area. The views from the garden are wonderful with the Atlantic Ocean glittering in the distance.

If you are looking for solitude in a stunning cottage, Aggies cottage is highly recommended. There is a nicely laid out garden shared with the other rental properties, which includes several tables in nooks around the grounds, a young children's playground, table tennis & swing ball. A bonus was a 'beach hut' where you could borrow body boards, buckets and spades. We enjoy meeting local people on holiday and believe that 'people make the place', so we were sorry to have no contact at all with our hosts who live in the adjacent property (visitor fatigue?), and the driveway opens onto a busy dual carriage way with no footpath (we acknowledge others may like this aspect of Aggie's cottage). The cream tea on arrival was thoughtful. An upgrade in the jam from bottom of the range to one from a local supplier would be more aligned with the high quality of the clotted cream and cottage. The list of provisions is accurate, so it's BYO basics- oil/ flour/ herbs/ spices/ books/ board games.
This is one of the best places we’ve stayed! Stunning location, beautiful house with toddler equipment provided and set up. Cream tea on arrival + BBQ box with all the kit. Everything you need for the beach provided. The play area in the garden is perfect. We had a phenomenal meal @Depot_Eatery right next door, fresh lobster from S&P Fish Shop in the harbour, pretty good food + great play area in The Pier. Superb days out at Tunnels Beach, Woolacombe Beach & Combe Martin Wildlife Park.
We had a wonderful stay at Aggie's cottage. The host was quick at responding, friendly, and went the extra mile (left some chocolate easter treats for the kids!), couldn't fault the service. The cottage itself was full of character and was decorated nicely, had comfortable beds, it was clean and tidy and the space outside was brilliant for the kids. Being the family cook, the kitchen can make or break my trip but I'm glad to report that it was well and truly stocked with everything we needed. Great value for money, would stay here again.

Aggie's Cottage at Higher Mullacott Farm is located just on the edge of Ilfracombe, providing an ideal base to explore the wider North Devon area and Exmoor. The vibrant Victorian town of Ilfracombe, with its fantastic array of independent shops, art galleries, pubs, bars, restaurants and cafes is just a 5 minute drive away, and just a 10 minute drive away is the award-winning Woolacombe Beach, and its lively village centre.
Dating back to the time of the Domesday Book, the pretty barn conversion is able to combine period charm with modern day elegance, think wood beams meet contemporary decor. Lovingly restored and beautifully furnished, this three bedroom cottage sleeps 6, and simply bursts with character and charm throughout. Set within 3.5 acres of communal gardens, it really is the perfect property for couples and families looking for an escape to the countryside.
A car is recommended but there is a bus service that runs from the main road into Ilfracombe, and serves Barnstaple and Woolacombe too. The main railway station is found at Barnstaple. There is off road parking for Aggie's Cottage for two cars in clearly marked spaces on-site.
