We are located in the Southeast corner of Colorado. Allison is nestled between mountains, an enormous lake and green grassland. To the South, one can see New Mexico, with its, juniper and sagebrush; to the North are mountains – one of which has the same namesake, Mt. Allison. The Piedra & San Juan rivers flow just a few miles to the East where they intersect and become the Navajo Lake. To the West, small farms and ranches fill approximately 40 miles of countryside between Allison and Durango. The small town of Ignacio is about half way between Allison & Durango. The Southern Ute Indian Reservation is headquartered in Ignacio and offers amenities such as a museum, casino, and bowling alley. Ignacio also has a Recreation center with a large pool and great work out facility. The community of Allison is tucked away in the quiet of God’s paradise, with adventure and opportunity all around us. Many people, both residents and tourists are drawn to Southwest Colorado due to the year-round outdoor activities that abound. In the summer, the rivers and lake nearby attract many outdoor enthusiasts with fishing, swimming, paddle boarding, jet skiing, boating, rafting, etc. The winter season in Allison is mild (meaning beautiful without shoveling snow every day). It is possible to leave with no snow on the ground, yet within an hour you can be at Wolf Creek Ski area, which often boasts of having the most snow in the state! If you travel the opposite direction, you can be at Purgatory Ski Resort in about an hour and a half. There are numerous historical wilderness areas available for hiking, such as Chimney Rock and Navajo State Park right in our backyard. It doesn’t take long to get into the National Forest or over to Mesa Verde National Park for an adventure.
