when our room had a leak, we were immediately moved to an upgraded room, which was unexpected, and a nice surprise!

Bilbo’s rest is in a pretty nice area with a beautiful view. Unfortunately during our stay it rained nearly the entire time. Though the weather was not the property’s fault, the room was a bit leaky and when we arrived the bed was slightly damp. There were also several bugs on the bed (tiny worms) that fell a couple of times from the roof. The water was brown from the tap at times, this may have been due to the weather/loadshedding, though there was no mention of the water being unsafe to drink. The wifi was good when it was working, but again because of the weather (I assume) it was not working at times. The workers were very friendly and helpful. Also would have been nice to know there is no fridge or microwave in the room, but there is a shared kitchen. However, Similarly priced Frodo’s Rest does have a fridge and microwave. I would recommend the property highlight this difference, as we would have booked the other had we known. It was the gimmick of lord of the rings I paid for, however it was overpriced compared to many properties we’ve stayed at in South Africa.
