We spent two nights at the cottage, it was clean, spacious and had everything we needed, this is the the type of place best enjoyed by anyone looking for a break for the noise of the city, access to the beach was great and the host a gentle, friendly soul, thank you Bryan we all had a great stay

I would describe the place as a small backpackers unit on the beach. All basic amenities are there, but considering the price, I expected a bit more, especially regarding bedding. I would also think that access to the property would be maintained better. The beaches are beautiful and easily accessible from the unit. The rest of the surrounding area is rural homelands with lots of livestock in the roads so it’s very slow going. This is also not a place to go without 4x4. Some of the roads are dirt and washed away in areas. There’s also a lot of mud at the moment (December) with the rainy season. We didn’t have a 4x4 as we’d never been there and didn’t know the conditions. There are rural shops and fuel stations on the road there, but most grocery-type shopping facilities are around 20km away, so it’s best to come prepared with everything you need for the entire stay. There is a resort with a small shop and bar, but service is terrible. All in all, will likely not go back.

Amazing location, Bryan is a wonderful host. The location is unbeatable. I enjoyed the beach right on the door step. When wet the roads needs a strong car, mg Qashqai struggled as it was very wet

We treasured our stay with Bryan, his wife , his friends and his dogs. He was always open to very honest conversations and we really enjoyed the exchange of views. He was a most attentive host and any issues that we had he readily resolved, nothing was too much trouble. Hole in the wall is a remote destination and when we came to leave Bryan guided us to an easier way back to the main roads. I met his lovely wife in her own house and immediately felt comfortable and relaxed with her. My niece adores dogs and Bryan was completely relaxed about allowing her to fondle,stroke and pet his well trained dogs; it will remain a highlight of her three months in S A. We parted from Bryan at a road junction and exchanged warm embraces but after leaving we felt tearful and emotional. I have travelled to most countries in the world but nowhere have I gained such warmth and friendship as that which I found with Bryan, his family and his friends. The location is definitely value for money, the views are breathtaking, the beach is excellent, so much other interesting sites (most of all hole in the wall about 2km away from property), all the hikers will definitely want to stay longer, the beach just on the property is more less a private undiscovered world, beyond description. The host was extremely receptive, his 2 little dogs very friendly and my kids loved them just on our arrival and during rest of stay. The roads are best suitable for a 4x4, and not best to drive at night (potholes, animals, fog at times), the water was usually an issue at the property and bed was a-bit uncomfortable and I would recommend it be replaced
