Nainital · 生态土屋 · 1室1床1.0卫 · 可住2人 · Artistic Earthen Home near Stream w/ Mountain View
The Gaadi Ghar is a unique artistic earthen home with an equally gorgeous bathroom, straight out of a fantasy. With an SUV car as its entrance and stairs leading down to the cosy luxurious cottage, it's a sort of trailer home with a twist. Nestled within the reserve forest of Nainital, with a stream flowing alongside, majestic mountains views and birdsong as your alarm, it doesn't get better for a romantic getaway or a peaceful workcation. The cottage is a 900 mtr easy hike from the road. Gaadi Ghar is a part of the acclaimed Geeli Mitti campus in Nainital district. Geeli Mitti is a Centre of Excellence for sustainable living solutions, permaculture and extensive natural buildings built of earth, lime, stone, bamboo, wood...And yet the cottage feels completely separate from the campus, private and peaceful. The space is 20kms away from the main Nainital city and 5kms away from Pangot. There is common street-side parking about 900 metres away from the property. From there, it's an easy hike of 15-20 mins. Ensure that you reach by 5 p.m., since therafter no porter would be available to help you guide your way up and carry your luggage. Do not bring huge bulky suitcases as it gets very difficult to carry them up to the premises. The cottage has an organic sculpted bed, big enough for 2 adults. The attached bathroom has hot and cold water available 24/7. You will have a study table and chair for a workcation, and spacious window seats at multiple levels to admire the beautiful mountain views. Or you could just soak up the sun lounging in your rooftop garden and patio while listening to the stream flowing. An electric heater as well as a wood-fired bukhari is there to keep you extra warm. There is a separate shared kitchen space where you can cook only vegetarian meals/snacks and will have to wash your own utensils. No non-vegetarian food/snacks is allowed inside the premises. Provisions can be ordered from Nainital with a day's notice or carry along with you. Breakfast will be provided complimentary, timings are 9-10 a.m. You can also get morning tea complimentary in the common dining area from 8-10a.m. Simple home-cooked vegetarian lunch/dinner is also available for Rs.300pp. with advance notice. Lunch time is 1-2 p.m. and dinner is 7-8.30 p.m., unless you want to cook yourself. We don't allow having meals inside the cottage. Do bring along your essential toiletries, medicines, snacks and drinks. Remember, there are no departmental stores or wine shops around so ordering anything will take a day. The common areas are additionally stocked with musical instruments, yoga mats, board games and books. The space is perfect if you are looking for a peaceful off-beat location to spend quality time with nature and friends. Or you are a digital nomad/writer looking for inspiration while working. We have high-speed dedicated wifi in the campus. If you are interested in learning about and experiencing sustainable living systems and earthen homes, this is a place not to be missed. Do not book if you are looking for touristy attractions, shopping, crowds, parties.
The place is a dream, you get a lot more that you paid for , if you are looking for Solace, tranquility and a place to connect with yourself and nature this is for you. This is not your regular room, it’s a boutique place with each room made with love and keeping sustainability in mind. It’s an experience. I stayed at the Gadi Ghar that is unmatched with anything I ever stayed in. You are in for a treat if you are a nature lover. Pack your books or paints and you may just find true self. Riddi is a super host. I went as a guest and came back with a bag full of memories and friends.
Our stay was a tranquil escape into nature's embrace. The accommodations were cosy and well-appointed, offering modern comforts amidst lush greenery. While the journey was a bit tedious, the destination was worth it. However, food options were limited. Despite this, our experience was unforgettable. Huge thanks to the hosts for their warm hospitality. We highly recommend this serene retreat for those seeking peace in nature! 🌟
If you are thinking honestly about leaving the herd and listening to your own soul then this quiet , organically evolving resort is for you. We had a wonderful stay at Gilli Mitti. Our hut named “Jor Tor Villa “reminded me of a “Hobbit Hole” straight out of the movie “Lord of the Rings” . And living here is a participatory experience with the inspired bunch of bright young architects , designers, poets and dreamers creating something tangible and real with their own hands every single day. We were given a very informative tour of the property where one could see various eco friendly building designs for a sustainable living. The super friendly owner Shagun gave us a lot of time to explain things patiently and to answer our unending streams of questions. The place is for peace and nature lovers only - and a living lab of honest experiments with natural architecture.
The overall experience of staying here was great from the very start. The host provided us with very clear directions to help us reach there easily. We met the host and some of the Geeli Mitti team members (which was an unexpected treat) they were all very warm and welcoming. The cottage itself was out of the world! We knew the entry is through an SUV but didn’t know exactly what to expect & I have to say - it was so creative, the whole concept! It was like going through the car door & entering a magical world! (Gave me Harry Potter vibes, which I loved!) very impressive. The pictures don’t do justice to the feeling of actually being there. The cottage had everything- a beautiful bathroom, a roof top garden, reading niches, a quiet and peaceful atmosphere! Couldn’t have asked for more! The campus is also an experience in itself. There is so much to do that one day wasn’t enough! Thank you Shagun, Riddhi and the others for making our stay so memorable. Will be back for more soon!
We are in the middle of a typical mountain rural village so lots of friendly neighbours around who can be seen farming, tending to their cattle and goats, getting firewood, inviting you in for a cup of tea...life is idyllic :) There are several trails through the village and surrounding forest, all enchanting and inviting one to explore and take in the farming fields, the traditional Kumaoni lifestyle and the woodlands and streams. At the same time, there will be insects and wildlife as expected in any natural ecologically rich space.
There are no restaurants or cafes within walking distance. And that means no traffic noise, pollution or crowded eyesores to spoil the view. You can ofcourse simply drive down or book a taxi to go to Pangot (5 kms) or Nainital city or Bhowali (1 - 1.5 hrs) for a range of eating out options and typical tourist attractions.
A taxi needs to be booked, if you don't have a car, for going to Nainital or Pangot or any of the other attractions around. There are also shared village taxis that run at fixed times daily to and from Nainital.
