St Keverne · 整套乡村小屋 · 1室0床1.0卫 · 可住2人 · Secluded woodland cottage, close to SW Coast Path
Thick stone and cob walls keep this beautiful little cottage toasty in winter, and gloriously cool in the hot summer months. Little Trembraze is set in a woodland glade overlooking a valley. Built in 1840 as a mill workers’ cottage, it has been renovated to include a log burner and air source heating. Perfect for walkers and wildlife watchers, it is a get-away-from-it-all experience. Own entrance and parking, no other property in sight. Just 1 mile from SW Coast Path. Kingsize or single beds. Wildlife This rural idyll is a haven for wildlife – you're likely to see fox, badger, stoat, rabbit, pheasant and deer from the cottage. You'll also see and hear many different species of birds, including song thrush, woodpecker, tawny and barn owls. From the beaches and coast path, look out for seals, basking sharks and dolphins. (Bring binoculars!) Walking This part of the Lizard peninsula is criss-crossed with public footpaths and bridleways that go on for miles, and it's easy to plan circular routes. There are many places close by where you can join the SW Coast Path. Local beauty spots The stunning Helford River, and Frenchman's Creek, full of yachts, sailing boats, Cornish fishers and cove boats, is just a few miles from Little Trembraze. Bordering this are many beautiful walks through National Trust land, including the historic Tremayne Quay. A few miles in the other direction you'll find the tiny valley of Poltesco, with the remains of the ancient serpentine stone works in the cove. Lizard Point, the UK's most southerly point and home to the rare Cornish chough (red-legged bird), is another few miles on. Year-round appeal Little Trembraze is a wonderful place to stay at any time of the year. There is a wood chip area with a log seat on one side of the cottage, next to the wildflower garden. Plus a slate terrace in front of the cottage, with a huge piece of granite which we found inside(!) the cottage during renovation, now used as a seat. There's also a wooden table and chairs in this area. This enables you to catch the sun at different times of the day. For when the weather is not so great, we've made inside the cottage as cosy as possible. There's a really comfy Parker Knoll sofa, a log burner (we'll give you enough wood for your first fire, but you have to purchase thereafter), and air source heating upstairs and down. The latter is supremely efficient in terms of heat production and eco-friendliness. More on the interiors The bedroom has a kingsize bed, which can be split into two singles. We use 100% pure linen bedding as it is a natural, breathable fabric that washes well. It's 'relaxed' linen, which means it's very soft, and doesn't crease as much as standard linen. I also chose it as I don't iron, which is energy-saving for me and the environment! The bedroom has a small chest of of drawers and free-standing mirror, plus a closet wardrobe. Seagrass rugs and soft lighting. There is also a beautiful painting of a Cornish Pipin Fish, by local artist Tim Wright, on the wall. The bathroom tiles were chosen for their old, faded and slightly chipped look. (They are not really chipped!) I love the softness and historic feel they give to the bathroom. As the bathroom is quite small, we took the bath out and put in a shower. A ceiling beam runs through it, so you must watch your head! The old country dining table is extendable, should you have friends over - or simply want room for a fabulous feast! About your hosts I am a practising Medical Herbalist. I love cultivating healing plants, as well as using them to improve people's health. I love the outdoor life, the countryside and the sea, I love walking my dogs and riding my horse... I am married to John, who also loves the great outdoors, particularly anything to do with boats and fishing. We live on the other side of the woodland in the mill cottage. Out of sight, but available should you need anything. This includes information on places to visit and things to do in this beautiful part of Cornwall – plus advice on herbal remedies and good fishing spots! Interested in herbal medicine? If you are interested in having a herbal/holistic consultation, relating to your general health and wellbeing, or specific health issues, I offer these at a reduced rate to guests at Little Trembraze. Herbal medicine can be especially useful as we get older and start to ‘creak’, mentally and physically! Natural methods of support can be so much gentler, safer, and just as effective – often more so – than pharmaceuticals.
Perfect in every way the cottage lies surrounded by flora and fauna. Deanne is a lovely host - thoughtful and provides all the info you might need. I’ll be back
We enjoyed a very peaceful stay at Little Trembraze. The surroundings were magical and the cottage itself was simply perfect. Deanne was a considerate and attentive host, giving us great recommendations for local eateries, we felt very comfortable as her guests.
A glorious, cosy and peaceful stay. Great local walks and a beutiful location. The place was very well equipped and Deanne was very helpful and friendly. Will come again
The local village of St Keverne is small, but has two pubs, a general store with post office, a butcher's and a small but fantastic restaurant, The Greenhouse – booking essential!
Fat Apples cafe, in nearby Porthallow and close to the beach, is a delightful wholefood cafe with vegan options, and outside seating.
Gear Farm, in St Martin, 4 miles away, sells lots of lush local produce, plus their own pasties, voted Best in Cornwall. The beautiful sailing waters of Helford River and Frenchman's Creek are 4 miles away.
You can pick up the SW Coast Path about a mile from Little Trembraze, and there is a maze of footpaths and bridleways in the area. The nearest town is Helston, 10 miles away. Falmouth is 18 miles away. There is a bus service.
