Enoyed the area quite a bit. Very good Internet speed and reliability if you have to work. Very quiet and peaceful. The river walk in Pennington Gap is less than 10 ms away via the entrance by the Food Lion and was great for me and the dog. There is another park and river walk about 15 ms away in Big Stone Gap. Karen was an excellent host . Would definitely visit again.

Initially reserved a month but had an emergency & had to cut my stay short & ended up paying more for 17 days than I would have paid for an entire month. These are the rules & I understand monthly rates, but changing from monthly to daily pricing took this place from being a great deal to being *way* overpriced for what it is. *Really* clean, which I appreciated. That said, it was older & the bathroom sink needs replacing & small appliances were the cheapest possible & bath towels are thin & unmatched. I just stayed at a place in Banner Elk that looked like something out of Architectural Digest & was practically a spa with high-end everything, & its monthly price was not that much more than the monthly price for this place. Fair amount of road noise but quiet at night. Good AC. Parking: bring a car cover. Friendly neighborhood dogs roam off-leash. Be aware if your dog is reactive. Nice place to walk behind Food City in Pennington Gap, 4 miles away.

I’m so grateful for Karen and her place. I love the small town feel and loved the quiet and beautiful surroundings. I’m here from Florida and really enjoyed exploring and getting to see and experience the tristate area. If you are looking for peace and tranquillity this is the spot.
