This light and airy, eco-friendly 4 bedroomed semi detached cottage has been beautifully refurbished and comes complete with an open planned well equipped kitchen/dining room with electric AGA and underfloor heating!A large family bathroom. Visitors can snuggle up in the cosy living room in front of a wood burning stove. A haven for peace and fresh air, 2 Lower Spire sits nestled in the Liscombe valley, just below Winsford moor. Visitors can walk along the River Barle and see the many species of birds or walk up onto Winsford Hill to see the herd of native Exmoor ponies that inhabit the moor. There are endless opportunities for adventure seekers and wildlife watchers. enjoy a full range of activities from fishing and kayaking, to horse riding and red deer safaris. For romantics who want to walk back from an Exmoor pub, be amazed by stars in a dark sky and hear the owls at night. For seekers of peace who want to park up the car, enjoy cottage life, unwind and recharge, in front of a log fire. There are endless opportunities for visitors to see or do or just enjoy doing nothing in a cosy cottage, secluded in its own valley, immersed by beauty.

The house is extremely comfortable in a wonderful location with beautiful views and teeming with wildlife. We visited in a cold snap during January but felt totally warm and cosy. We are keen on walking and the location is perfect with the local walk to Tarr Steps and beyond. Dulverton is a lovely small town with a great butcher’s and Mortimer’s tea room was a welcome find when we arrived from Cornwall freezing cold and needing tasty hot food mid afternoon. James is a responsive host and information/instructions are thorough. We hope to return sometime!

This is a superb property in a stunning location and for those that live in cities the lack of noise, other than birds, is staggering. Decoration and furnishings are to a very high standard with more of a home feel rather than a rental. Property is extremely well equipped with more than enough refrigeration, washing facilities, cutlery and crockery to easily cater for our party of 6 with some to spare. Even disposables like toilet paper, rubbish bags, cleaning products etc were all present in quantity for our entire stay. Plus the additional touches of fresh scones, clotted cream and milk were greatly appreciated. Hosts went above and beyond to contact myself and ensure that we were looked after. I have no hesitation in unreservedly recommending 2 Lower Spire to potential guests and will happily rent again when next holidaying in Exmoor
A lovely and spacious house set in a beautiful rural valley and only a stones throw from the famous Tarr Steps. We found it a perfect place to explore Exmoor. The house was clean, very warm and with lots of nice treats on arrival such as scones and clotted cream. On the whole we loved our week at Lower Spire and would gladly stay there again.
A wonderful home in a remote location. It was very clean, all the facilities you would need and very comfortable. We spent the evenings stargazing in the back garden. We would definitely stay again if we came back this way. And thank you for the cream and scones.

When parking for number 2 Lower Spire, please park next to the stables. In order to keep the farm track open.
