Valley cottage is an old cottage in a pretty village in central Exmoor. The house is within walking distance of a little grocery shop, tea rooms and a pub. Sadly there were a number of issues regarding the cleanliness of the property when we arrived and whilst we appreciated Finest Retreats prompt offer to make good as many issues as possible, given the likely time it would take to remedy them during our holiday we didn't continue our stay. We trust that with improved cleaning and some tlc, Valley cottage has the potential to be a lovely holiday home.

We stayed in the lovely Valley Cottage for 4 nights. We are a family of 5. It is a very old place, it is fully furnished, with a lot of old details, and accesories in the living, in the old kitchen, in the bedrooms. We absolutely loved it. However, if you are looking for a modern house, this won't be your holiday house. (example: floors are old and uneven, as is the stairs, the ceilings are low, but we think that is all very elegant!) The house has many bedrooms, with absolute clean beds and sheets. However every room, also the bathroom, had carpets on the floor, so it is a bit dusty (since it is so old). For allergic people, that will cause some sneezing. It is a beautiful place with a beautiful view. The village is lovely, with very friendly people in the local shop, and tearoom. The local pub/ restaurant (Royal Oak) was fantastic, with delicous food, and very friendly staff. Last: Withypool is centrally located, for exploring Exmoor. We have had a great time!

Very quaint ,quirky old cottage in beautiful peaceful location with good local shop, tearoom and pub. Comfortable but needs better cleaning in the lounge and kitchen areas. We enjoyed our stay and would come back again.

We had a wonderful weekend away. A beautiful location and although a small village you are treated to a tea room, a very well supplied post office and lovely pub. It’s only a short stroll down to the river. All in all a very relaxing stay and good location.
