The Barnacle is a converted 1800's barn that is our guest house. It's very rustic, cozy, and only 50 yards from the water and entrance to Holbrook Island Sanctuary State Park. It's a perfect location to explore the Mid-Coast Maine region! Amenities include: Breakfast items, snacks, beverages, use of tandem or single kayak, 2 bikes, pool table, dart board, board games, movies, and more! NOTE: The barn isn't insulated therefore it's IMPOSSIBLE to be spotless. Dust or bugs WILL appear. This 1800's barn was converted to a 3 bedroom 1 bath cottage. There is a small living room and kitchen as well as a large open space on the entire 2nd floor where guests will find a family room, larger dining table, pool table, dart board and games. Amenities included: Breakfast and afternoon snacks, coffee, use of tandem or single kayak, 2 bikes, pool table, dart board, board games, movies, and fire pit.

This was my first stay through Airbnb and it was a lovely experience. The Barnacle was exactly as described, was extremely clean, in a beautiful location, and Jessica was very kind. There were board games and puzzles upstairs which we enjoyed during our stay. Plenty of trails within walking distance if you’re into that. Lots of scenic views all around. If you like being surrounded by nature this is your place to stay. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks Jessica!
We had a great stay at the Barnacle. The space was as expected. The surroundings were lovely. We particularly enjoyed kayaking. I would recommend the Barnacle to others.
The Barnacle was a perfect spot for our family. Jessica was so kind and super helpful with suggestions and made things very easy. We felt really taken care of. The location is great. Very short walk to views, access to water/kayaks, and the entire nature preserve. Really beautiful. Totally would come back!
Great location right by a State Park with lots of hiking trails. Nice amenities at checkin. Jessica was super responsive with any questions.
We loved our stay! It is a bit of a drive from bigger tourist areas but not unmanageable. Jessica had snacks, drinks and breakfast items waiting for us upon arrival and was super friendly and helpful! Our older kids enjoyed the loft with the pool table and dart board. Would highly recommend!!

Harborside is a village on Cape Rosier located in the town of Brooksville. The Barnacle is located 50 yards from a cove off of Penobscot Bay and next to Holbrook Island Sanctuary State Park, which is comprised of 1345 acres. The park and its island are directly across from Castine, Maine. A short walk opposite the park will take you to the remainder of the village where you'll find panoramic views of the bay and magnificent sunsets. You can see the entire bay from there, including Islesboro and Camden Hills in the distance.
It's very quiet here with few vehicles passing by. A perfect place to "get away from it all". If you want activities, you can find just about anything you'll need in the surrounding towns without the congested Summer traffic you'll encounter in Southern Maine.
Driving through Holbrook Sanctuary on Back Road (yes, that's actually the name! ) is the fastest way to The Barnacle but if you do not like a rough dirt road, then take an extra 5 minutes around Cape Rosier road which is paved.
There is parking directly in front of the cottage between the tree and hedges. Trailers, RVs, and large trucks must park in our driveway and not next to The Barnacle.
