An idyllic country cabin nestled on the corner of our land in the beautiful village of Aldworth, West Berkshire. Just a 20 minute off-road walk to the Ridgeway. It's got a lovely open plan kitchen & living area (with log burner), bedroom & bathroom with shower. We provide wood for the fire, basic kitchen supplies you're welcome to help yourself to and shampoo/shower gel. We always aim to leave some milk in the fridge too! We built this cabin ourselves and lived in it for 5 years while we renovated our derelict chicken shed (on site) into a home. We designed the cabin to have the best view down to the village church and, as the front is East facing, the sun pours in through the glass doors and windows in the morning. It's cosy and comfortable and incredibly peaceful. Since the plot of land is still a bit of a work in progress there's no fencing around our plot yet. This is why we don't recommend bringing dogs.
What great stay for short, or long term like me…a beautifully built and appointed self contained cottage on a peaceful farm setting…it contained all the kitchen items necessary to cook anything you desire, bathroom really well appointed, lounge area with comfy couch and TV with actual free to air stations and was perfectly heated ….so many little extras like a pair of Wellies, wood burner, heated towel rails…outside a nice verandah to sit and take in the country air and a walk into town (and pub) was an added bonus…. I could go on but many properties in this area “ talk a great stay” (and we have tried many) but few deliver…take this from an Airbnb veteran ….Sabrina and Scott are great experienced hosts so it’s a case of what’s not to like…you won’t be disappointed…
Sabrina's cabin is superb, and she is an excellent host! Super fast & very helpful responses which really allowed us to make the most of our stay. The cabin is beautifully designed and the surrounding area is serene and stunning - perfect for a countryside break.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Cabin. A lovely setting, peaceful and quiet - an ideal getaway. Thank you for the bottle of wine and fresh bread - both were delicious!
A beautiful secluded cabin for a great escape into the countryside. Freshly baked loaf for us was a lovely added touch. Would recommend staying!
A popular nearby village is Hampstead Norreys which has a gorgeous little village shop with all the essentials, including a cafe serving delicious breakfasts and lunches. Same goes for the beautiful village of Yattendon where there's a separate village shop and fantastic cafe called The Pantry.
Our other nearest villages (each 10 minutes drive) are Pangbourne, Goring & Streatley and Yattendon. They all have some lovely restaurants and takeaways.
In just 15-20 minutes you can be walking the beautiful ridgeway with stunning scenery.
On your way, stop in at The Bell Inn. A famous local pub that was awarded CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) pub of the year in 2019. It's better in the summer as it relies on its garden but it's cosy in the winter. They serve rolls or a simple ploughman's but nothing more substantial.
Less walkable (but very nearby, at the bottom of the hill) is The Four Points. Really popular and great for your traditional (and filling) pub grub! They also offer takeaway.
Another wonderful option (around 10-15 minutes drive) is The Royal Oak in Yattendon but this is a popular pub restaurant so you would need to book.
The Pot Kiln in Frilsham (around a 15 minute drive) is a fantastic, cosy pub and game restaurant in a picturesque setting. If you haven't booked then call ahead as they can get busy but often have quiet nights.
In between The Royal Oak and The Pot Kiln is The Renegade Brewery, which is great for a quicker bite and a pint and it's much more informal.
Going in the other direction Streatley you have The Coppa Club (at The Swan Hotel). It's on the river and a great option for dinner or just a drink.
For special occasions we're also close to The Vineyard Hotel in Newbury and the Woodspeen restaurant.
The nearest towns for larger supermarkets or just browsing the shops are Wallingford, Newbury and Reading.
It's very remote in Aldworth so not possible to get deliveries or book taxis very easily. We'd recommend not relying on them.
You're welcome to bring bikes as there's a log store you can leave them in. We can direct you to the Ridgeway, just a 5 minute ride away. The popular cyclist challenge of Streatley Hill is around a 20 minute ride away.
