Fabulous stay at Lower Mill. The house is beautiful. Highly recommended.

Lower Mill is a lovely spot for lake views from the cottage and activities including great golf at South Cerney. The cottage was a good size for 4 adults and the location was lovely and quiet. For comfort It’s important to note the 3rd bedroom is not suitable for tall adults or teenagers. The beds were functional but not luxurious. It’s an odd set up as the “king” bed is in the room without the ensuite. Basically the king is two single beds pushed together. The house was mostly clean and tidy with the inclusion of recent renovation of the bathrooms kitchen which looked good. This was far from an inexpensive stay so I would have liked to have seen a few more special touches to justify the price point. Unlucky that I had just left an outstanding AirBnD in Devon so I was comparing the two to be fair.

Very enjoyable stay. Ignore any reviews about the place being dated as it's clearly just been totally refurbed everywhere inside - completely and tastefully redecorated, all new furniture everywhere and a full array of new pots, pan and kitchen utensils, and shiny new BBQ outside. The location right on on Somerford lagoon is great - we brought our own paddleboards and, having stayed at Lower Mill Estate before, it can be a slight faff getting your kayak/boards onto a lake. Having your own jetty in the back garden means you can pop out onto the water whenever the urge takes you. We were a group of 2 adults, 4 teenagers and a dog, and there was ample space for us all. Point of note if you have a disobedient dog like ours is the decking area is enclosed and probably only the smallest dog could get out from there. Pre-holiday comms was good with info packs sent well in advance and Orion were very responsive to a query I made just before heading off.
