WINTER GUESTS: Snow shovels provided; please shovel sidewalk (approx. 20 feet). Snow is a standard part of Winter in North Idaho. If you're unable to shovel snow, then please don't book our property during Winter months as we are unable to shovel the sidewalk for you during your stay, and it's imperative that you shovel to keep it clear for you and for guests arriving after you. If the snow is not shoveled, it turns to ice and becomes impossible to clear. Thank you.
The house and view are both beautiful! Such a lovely place. The privacy and homey feeling was wonderful. I will definitely stay here again.
Beautiful home and property. Well maintained and comfortable. Would totally recommend and stay again!
We always love staying at Kims when visiting family in North Idaho. The home is lovely and large enough to accommodate our group yet has a cosy feel. This year Christmas tree was a beautiful addition to the space. In winter we enjoy the fire, and hot tub. In summer there’s hiking and swimming.
The Quail house is GORGEOUS and exactly like I expected based on description and photos. Beds are comfy, hot tub clean, and toilets were fancy with seat warmers and/or bidets (a little extra flare/special touch!). We had such a comfortable weekend & visited Bonners Ferry farmer’s market nearby. We hiked Snow Creek Falls which was easy & peaceful. Kim provided lots of a great recommendations which we appreciated. Thank you!
Kim is a wonderful host. There home is beautiful with a beautiful view yard community garden to enjoy piecful location. There was a miss communication on my own part so i felt we were walking on egg shells not aloud to do anything. But once i checked out she had wished i had reaced out to make our family's stay more enjoyable. Everything you need is in this beautiful place there were 11 adults and a small child. With plenty of room porta crib if needed. I re recommend staying here . She has honey that is made from here fresh for you to use so AMAZING. She asks very minimal of you to just keep her beautiful space beautiful and replace things if you use the last of them. Simple request.
Private and "secluded" in the woods, you'll feel like you're miles from town -- yet we're just 5 minutes from Bonners! If you need a cup of sugar for those cookies you're making, it's a quick trip down the hill to the 24-hr grocery store.
The neighborhood Deer and Wild Turkeys will probably visit daily, and keep your eyes open for Hummingbirds, Bald Eagles, and even an occasional Bobcat, Cougar, or Moose, which have all been seen by our guests from time to time.
WINTER/SNOW NOTE: To answer some frequently-asked questions:
It snows in Bonners Ferry. Sometimes a lot, sometimes a little. Sometimes unexpectedly.
There can be snow on the roads, and snow on the driveway - especially at the gate to our property.
Please plan for snow: Carry emergency supplies/kit in your vehicle.
A front-wheel-drive, AWD, or 4WD vehicle is a good idea in the winter.
You'll want to watch the forecast and plan accordingly.
The main/paved roads are plowed and sometimes sanded by the County, but there is a moderately steep road between our property and town that can be notoriously slick. There is an alternate route that is a bit longer way around to get to town if the roads are bad. We recommend you watch the weather and if it's going to snow a lot, you'll want to pick up some extra groceries and hunker down and enjoy the winter view from the property and wait until the road conditions improve.
We live on a private gravel road that is shared with 6 neighbors. The neighbors plow the gravel road up to our gate, but they are all retired and they do it on their own schedule, not ours.
Inside our gate: We hire someone to plow the gravel portion of the driveway inside our gate. And if you'll move your vehicles, they can plow the concrete pad in front of the garage. (If you don't move your vehicles, you will need to shovel the concrete pad and keep it clear of snow to prevent ice buildup during the snow season.) You'll also need to shovel the sidewalk, and probably a little area near the gate to keep the ice from building up.
We provide snow shovels. Shoveling snow is part of the adventure of a winter vacation! Get the kids involved -- they love helping, and we provide a kid-size snow shovel.
Winter driving can be challenging. Take it slow and easy. Plan ahead and allow extra time. It's better to make it there safely than quickly.
