Fred’s place was awesome. Classic New Mexico. Sweet. Private. Quiet. All the amenities we needed were there. Fred was very communicative and kind. Highly recommend! We hope to go back.

This property is a picturesque old adobe that the owners are fixing up. The one-bedroom AirBnB part of the property is charming, well decorated and nicely appointed. The issue I had with the property was that it is very difficult to find after dark, and the owners gave directions that were not accurate. They described it as in Velarde, a small hamlet north of Espanola, New Mexico. However, in reality, it isn't in Velarde. There are two signs for Velarde on the highway, one at the beginning and another at the end. However, the turnoff to the street leading to the property is not between those two signs. It is a mile and a half south. And, at night, the other markers that the owners described are very difficult to see. So, one of the charms of the property, dark skies and bright stars, became a liability because of the owners' less-than-accurate directions. I found the property only after I found someone who lives in the real Velarde, which isn't easy in a semi-rural area late at night. Further, no one answered the number I had been given to contact them. Apparently, one was out of town, and there was some confusion about who would answer calls. As a result, despite arriving at about 7:30, I didn't get into the property until midnight. If I had been able to find it and get in on time, it would have been great. Instead, it was not a good experience.

Thank you very much for having us Fred. We are from TX and has spent the last week camping throughout Arizona, Utah, and Colorado. We were scrambling to find a place to stay due to the holiday weekend and really lucked out by snagging a night in your space. We were exhausted pulling up the driveway late that night, but as soon as we opened the door we were totally recharged. It was the last night of our trip and probably my favorite airbb that I’ve ever stayed in. The design is very intentional and we didn’t want to leave. Thank you again for your hospitality and we hope to stay here again someday. Take care, Lauren & Blake
