Nestled in the Pure Michigan woods, Trail's End Guesthouse is at the "end of the trail" overlooking a peaceful country garden. Perfect for a couples get-a-way or celebrate a special occasion. Rustic cabin style retreat with an open floor plan. Two levels include a winter themed spacious loft bedroom, main floor kitchenette, and a cozy sitting room. Private backyard space with fire pit, picnic table, and camp chairs. (Yes, firewood is included!) As soon as you enter Winding Trail, you know it will be a peaceful spot. Folks meander through the garden, take photos, and relax while listening to the birds. The Guesthouse has everything you will need to stay for a weekend or a couple weeks. Two levels include a winter themed spacious loft with queen sized bed, main floor kitchenette with all the amenities to cook on site, and a cozy sitting room with a full-sized sleeper sofa, smart TV, DVD's, books, and a few games. Enjoy your own campfire to watch the stars or roast marshmallows. The Guesthouse is filled with special little touches for you to enjoy including a sample of our homemade maple syrup and fresh eggs delivered on your first morning! Great Cabin, we traveled up for Sno Drift Rally with our truck and trailer. Plenty of room and a beautiful peaceful place!
Super cute little cabin, we didn’t spend much time there because we were out and about visiting friends, but the time we were there we were comfortable. There are also some wonderful trails nearby. Great experience!
Shellie and John have an incredible property and have been generous enough to invite the rest of us in! They were incredibly gracious hosts and made sure we felt comfortable during our stay. I can't recommend staying here enough!
The cabin is a piece of heaven on earth. It is charming, warm, peaceful,relaxing and comfortable. Shellie welcomed us from the moment we arrived. She gave us 6 farm fresh eggs from her chickens. She also shared delicious, freshly made apple cider. We actually heard the rooster crow the morning we left. I know that everyone who will stay at her cabin will be thrilled.
This was our second time staying at Shellie’s place. It was just as clean, beautiful, homey, and welcoming as the first time! Shellie never fails to deliver the best of the best for her guests. She embodies what it means to be a 5-star Airbnb host and excels in all areas for her guests. Fairview was dubbed the Wild Turkey capital of Michigan many years ago and still has large flocks of turkeys throughout the county including our own backyard. The AuSable River is 12 miles away and a popular recreation destination for kayaking, canoeing, tubing, and fly fishing. The river winds across the state from Grayling to Oscoda and is known for the AuSable River Canoe Marathon and it's award winning trout waters! We are just a few miles to the Huron National forest trail-head that is teaming with trails to hike, bike, ATV ride, XC ski, and snowmobile. We have nearby Golf courses, a Fun Park, many local stores & restaurants, and an Amish community with bakeries & shops. There are a handful of local lakes for fishing or spending the day on the beach. State & Federal land is just up the road for hunting opportunities. Hello! I’m Shellie and my husband’s name is Jon. We both have lived in Oscoda County in Northern MI for a combined total of 70+ years (and we are still discovering new/old things to do)! Jon is a retired Fairview Elementary teacher and Shellie is a retiring dog groomer, AND we both work part-time at our church. We have 3 adult children and many grandkids. We purchased our private little 10-acre paradise in the big woods of Northern MI in 2001. Lots of trees & wildlife surrounds us. Jon & I are both active in our church, are avid 'outdoorsy' people, and have made our place a homestead where we raise & grow much of our own food. The Guesthouse sat unused without indoor plumbing until 2020 when we did the necessary upgrades to make it a comfortable and temporary place for people to stay (and not have to use the outhouse in the middle of the night). The Guesthouse continues to be a work in progress at the "End of the Trail". We love our little place in northern Michigan and are happy to share it. It is our hope that time spent here will make memories and also be a blessing to others.
