Guests will enjoy exclusive use of this spectacular 550-hectare fynbos mountain-top retreat with panoramic views of the Overberg farmlands and Swellendam mountains. Only 10 minutes from Napier and 30 minutes from Arniston, this is the ultimate private getaway. A perennial river with large weir runs alongside the well-appointed homestead and large entertaining deck and pool. Numerous private hiking and mountain bike trails with stunning views over the Agulhas Plains and tip of Africa. The reserve forms part of the Napier Mountain Conservancy which belongs to the Agulhas Biodiversity Initiative and brings together nine conservancies in the region. It was set up by six landowners, who jointly own around 5000 hectares of contiguous land. It is an area rich in biodiversity and home to one of the world’s rarest plants, Erica Recurvata. You can only access this fynbos mountain reserve via a secure entrance and private 5 kilometre gravel farm road so the homestead and property is completely safe and inaccessible to trespasses. Guests have exclusive use of the entire reserve during their stay. Dogs and other pets are most welcome, and will enjoy swimming in the river and weir that runs alongside the house. The terrain is perfect for mountain biking, hiking, cross country running and other outdoor pursuits. There is a sign posted 6km private mountain bike trail with hills, river crossings and forested areas that make it interesting, exciting and challenging.
Amazing house and very big in size, great for a group or just the two of you, we had some electricty problems ( eskom)… but being in nature like this makes you forget that quickly…. Lovely pool too!
Probably my best Air BnB experience thus far. Sarah is an excellent host. Very quick to respond, friendly and flexible with checking in and out times. This property is the perfect escape from the busy city life and a great way to enjoy beautiful nature and feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, while still enjoying the comfort of modern day living. Sarah's property is very neat, spacious, equipped with everything you need. It's the perfect getaway for a family holiday or a group of friends. Highly, highly, highly recommend!
Aristea is our favourite family and friends go-to spot. This is our 2nd family weekend gathering in 2 years because it ticks all the boxes and more. The bedroom accommodation is world class, spacious, private and immaculate. We love the the kitchen and dining room space which is fresh and spacious and well equipped, you will not need a thing from home, just bring your food and drinks ! The view, walks, ambiance and the verandah (which is my favourite) for lazy afternoons and evening outdoor sundowners. Everything is well organised from WiFi, back up power during load shedding and a crystal clear clean pool. Oh, and not to forget the large collection of family games to play. The thing that we love above the world class space is that it caters for a large group without feeling like you are living in each other's space. Simply a perfect balance all round. Sarah is a fantastic host, communication is fantastic and responsive. If you are considering Aristea you will not go wrong.
They say getting there is half the fun, but in this case the house is more than worth the trip. Serene, well-equipped and comfortable, we had plenty of room for two families. The views of the valley below are gorgeous and even loadshedding played its part in keeping the skies dark for viewing the Milky Way. I can imagine going back in summer and lazing in the pool.
Napier is situated under the Soetmuisberg mountain range, surrounded by rolling wheat and barley fields, in the Overberg region of the Western Cape, South Africa.
The village itself is full of character and charm, and just two hours outside of Cape Town. It's an ideal stop for those wanting to experience a truly rural atmosphere and a break from city life. There are a number of excellent restaurants and pubs as well as farm stores, book shops, art galleries and antique shops.
The village is beautifully kept with a blend of century-old cottages and modern houses, surrounded by rolling farmlands. In the past the village was known for its Blacksmiths, and is now commemorated by the annual Horse and Cart Festival.
The popularity of Napier has increased dramatically during the past few years, and it is now rated by the Tourism Board as the fourth most attractive village of the Western Cape after Montagu, Greyton and McGregor.
