There were quite a few issues with this. Airbnb we had trouble finding the lodge initially because the hotel clerk did not give full directions on where it was and completely left out the fact there was a gate or gate code. We didn't find this out until we drove back to the hotel and asked someone else. He also told us we were free to use the pub restaurant without reservations because we were hotel guests but when we went to the pub for food we were turned away. As for the lodge, firstly the door to the 'Argyll' room did not latch/lock properly and had to be slammed and shaken and all manner of maneuvering to get it to close or lock, which caused me to have to share one bedroom with my two kids (they had the beds, I took the floor) while my husband slept in the unlocked bedroom. We alerted hotel management and they said they knew the door didn't work properly and came and showed us how to use it but no one told us initially and also I feel if they knew they should've had it fixed beforehand. I should note that yes, this is a European-style door that you lift the handle on to lock, but we had a British family member with us who also couldn't get it to work properly. I don't feel there should be a 'trick' to making a door close or lock. The second thing was the shower in 'Angus' room was broken and only sent out water at the hottest temperature leaving it unusable so my kids and I had to use the shower in the unlocked room for two days before hotel staff finally came and fixed it. Also the towel warming rack in Angus doesn't work. You should probably also be aware that the shower and sink in Angus leak all over the bathroom floor when used. A few other things: there were unwashed blood spots on one of the bed coverlets in one of the rooms, a dirty tea towel and no other clean ones in the kitchen, and no cafetière for coffee anywhere. And finally the outdoor lights under the awnings outside the bedrooms don't work properly. We couldn't find a switch for them and they were on during the day on one day only but were off the rest of the time, which at night made it extremely difficult to find the bedroom doors and use the keys. This Airbnb appears to be owned by the hotel, and they have been alerted to these things although there didn't seem to be a sense of urgency while we were there. Only once of the several times that we called the hotel desk did someone answer the phone. Aside from these issues the lodge was clean and comfortable and a wonderful location.

Fabulous big lodge! Well equipped and very cosy and warm. Plenty of room for us all, and the bedrooms had everything we needed. Great if you just want to get away from it all, and chill! Thanks Timea!
