Jetty cottage is in a beautiful location and was spotlessly clean and fully equipped. It look us longer than we anticipated to get to it from the main road, however it was worth it. We had a great time, our highlight was watching otters from the bench by the front door!

Jetty Cottage is one of the best cottages we have stayed in. It is spacious, warm and comfortable and spotlessly clean - a great place to come back to each evening after a day out in the Hebridean weather! The bed was very comfortable too. It is well equipped, with a good selection of sensible-sized pots and pans, plenty kitchen utensils and a really useful clothes airer. There was none of the unnecessary clutter that you often find in holiday cottages, but just a beautiful orchid on each of the downstairs window sills. The setting is excellent, in a small bay adjacent to the castle, with stunning views over the loch. We had almost daily sightings of otters, eagles, great northern divers, etc. from inside and just outside the cottage. The contact person at the castle responded quickly and helpfully to queries. We would happily stay there again if we returned to Harris, and have already recommended it to a friend who is thinking of a trip to the Western Isles.

This cottage is right next to the jetty on an inlet from the sound of Taransay. It is beautifully kept and feels clean and modern. The location is stunning and we watched otters playing on the seaweed at low tide. In the distance are the hills on Taransay and then the mountains of South Harris. It is on a dead end single track road which ensures it is fairly quiet. Would happily return if we were staying on Harris again.

Jetty Cottage is light, spacious, newly renovated and wonderfully situated right on the loch with lovely views. It’s comfortable, has 2 bathrooms, and a very well equipped kitchen - which is a good thing as it’s quite a distance from shops/restaurants and the road there is a slow, winding single track. We liked its location, remote but not isolated. Check in was really easy. We did have a couple of problems during our stay. the WiFi went down the week before we arrived and wasn’t restored by the time we left, a issue with the provider the neighbour said. There was patchy 4G reception outside the cottage. Also, much of the cutlery and some crockery was dirty - it looked as though previous guests had left the dishwasher full of rinsed but unwashed stuff which had then been mistakenly put away by the cleaning team. The rest of the place was spotless though. Perhaps because of its newness, the cottage was missing a couple of things we’d expect to find. There was no information folder - so no instructions were available about things like rubbish, or how things worked, or tourist info. There was no soap for hand washing in the bathrooms either.
