Old Pier Cottage is a stylish but cosy dog-friendly two bedroom cottage on the shore of West Loch Tarbert, just minutes from the beautiful beaches and incredible sights the islands of Harris and Lewis have to offer. It’s a 5 minute walk from Tarbert Ferry Terminal - and the Isle of Harris Distillery! If you fancy hunkering down for a cosy stay at any time of the year, we've got you covered. And if you're in Hebrides for an adventure, then this is the base for you too! With not one, but *two* wood-burning stoves, this is the cosiest two bedroom cottage of all cosy cottages. Get under the blankets in the living room for a bit of a Netflix binge, or why not explore our little record collection and play some vinyl while reading a good book?! The kitchen is fully equipped so you can cook - or bake - to your heart's content! Connect your phone to the Bose speaker and pour yourself something nice while you're at it. The lovely bath is only a few minutes from being filled with hot water for you to soak in after a bracing day out in the Atlantic wind. If you're out and about, take advantage of the fishings rods and crab lines we provide; or why not take our half set of clubs down to Scarista Golf Club to play on the 9-hole course? There's a bike rack outside and plenty space in the utility room to hang your wet clothes. The utility room is also where you'll find the washing machine and tumble dryer - and there’s a dishwasher in the kitchen! It's a small cottage so it's worth bearing in mind the attic bedrooms weren't designed for our 21st century expectations (in other words, the bedrooms are small and have a restricted ceiling height) but we hope we have created a comfy, special place for you to kick back and relax on this magical island. Wonderful house, exactly as described in the listing. Well equipped and very homely. Yvonne has gone above and beyond with the superb welcome pack which was very much appreciated. The centre of Tarbert is walkable from the house and yet the surroundings are so peaceful. Great location for exploring both Harris and Lewis. Uig Sands is worth the hour plus drive as is dinner at the Uig Sands Restaurant (if you can get a table!). A must visit is the coffee caravan that sits near the ferry terminal / Harris Distillery. Best coffee ever :-) Enjoy your stay.
A delightful cottage, great for us 4 adults ( plus a small dog). Great that its located in Tarbert - easy walk to the pub and shops. Clean, recently renovated cottage with nice touches and pretty much everything that we needed. Lovely welcome basket of goodies, logs for the (excellent) woodburner and clear instructions re the house and info re places to go etc. Managed to get to eat at Flavour, which was superb. We would definitely come back 😊

Just finished a relaxing stay at in Harris. Yvonne provided a welcome pack of breakfast goodies and Prosecco way beyond what we have had in other holiday accommodation. She thought if everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. House is perfect, very comfortable and is just as pictures show. Would highly recommend.
Cosy cottage in the heart of Tarbet. Easy access from the ferry and a good base to explore Harris. Cottage is small and comfortable downstairs - the low ceilings upstairs take a couple of days to get used too - this is described accurately in the listing. Harris is a beautiful island and well worth the visit.

Well, what can we say about Harris that you have no doubt not already seen? We are 15 minutes from the world famous Luskentyre beach, which is a nice bonus!
A few steps from our front door is West Loch, where you can do some fishing or take a cold shower in the waterfall!
Across the road is the local school which has a public swimming pool, gym and sauna.
You can sit in the back garden and look out towards the Sound of Taransay with an Isle of Harris Gin & tonic in your hand!
Tarbert has small shops, cafes and a couple of restaurants which are a 5 minute walk away, so you can enjoy the feeling of a Hebridean escape while still being within walking distance to a meal that's been cooked for you! The Harris Hotel is a 4 minute walk and there you'll find a great bar and restaurant.
We're about 50mins away from Stornoway.
Old Pier Cottage is perfectly located for exploring Harris *and* Lewis, and we are only a quick ferry ride over to Skye and Uist.
You can arrive by ferry with a car or even on foot, as we are only a few minutes walk from the ferry terminal. We have space for two cars on the driveway but if you do arrive without a vehicle, we recommend HEB360 if you want a private tour. Car Hire Hebrides can also deliver cars to Harris for a small extra fee from Stornoway, and buses run daily (except Sundays).

We have two charming and well-located properties across both sides of the Clisham (near Stornoway and in Tarbert) and my brother Derek “Pluto” also runs the fantastic HEB360, offering brilliant private tours of the islands with unique local insights.
