Beautiful location, lovely cottage
A lovely little cottage with a beautiful view - so quiet and peaceful! The kitchen was the ideal place to hang out, very light and airy with a homely feel; great to have a full size freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. The wi-fi was good and stable; the heating was efficient; beds were comfortable and shower had really great water pressure. The outside space was appreciated (when the midges weren't around!) - could be enhanced more with a bit of mowing to show where the paths are. Ann was a communicative and responsive host. The locals are very friendly and chatty. The landscape of the island is unique and the beaches on the west side like the Caribbean! We even swam in September - so bring a cossie! We enjoyed seeing the seals, porpoises and seabirds though the otter and eagles proved elusive. Croft 36 (honesty system) did lovely bread products, cakes and soup, Scalpay lighthouse was amazing and St Clement's Church very interesting. Mostly explored South Harris in our hirecare.
Das Crook Cottage liegt sehr ruhig an einer Single Track Road und hat unseren Erwartungen voll entsprochen. Wir, vier Erwachsene, hatten ziemlich wechselhaftes Wetter, aber im Cottage ist genügend Platz mit viel besagter toller Aussicht. Wichtig zu wissen ist, dass die Doppelbetten schmal sind, aber es gibt Klappbetten zum Ausweichen. Unbedingt Lebensmittel mitbringen, vor allem, wenn ihr Samstagabends oder Sonntags anreist. Der Laden im Süden der Insel ist besser bestückt als in Tarbert, hat aber kein glutenfreies Brot. Wir kommen gerne wieder!
Harris is a great place to visit. Crook Cottage is located in a quiet spot in the bays area somewhat away from the beaches of the west coast. There is good walking and very distinctive scenery. The cottage itself is well equipped and very comfortable. We had a very good stay.
We had a very enjoyable week, our first stay in the Bays area of Harris in many years of visiting. A special highlight was watching a pair of otters from the cottage on our first morning.
