Aymanam · 整套民居 · 3室4床3.0卫 · 可住8人 · Whole Home | Jeff's Riverside | Mosquito Free
Welcome to our home, which is a sustainability-minded spacious riverside home in a village fast-changing. With mosquito nets on the doors and windows, mosquitoes greet you only outside our front door. There are star fruits, mulberry, scramberry, bananas, papayas, mangoes & more, growing around the home. Residents may pluck to eat. Food delivery options (please wash plastic), recliners and kayaks are available. A functional kitchen may be utilized by guests (stove, utensils, pots, spices) Our place is very spacious, with big rooms. We use only eco-friendly and natural products to clean and maintain the house. This is an attempt to ensure residents and the living eco-system around is not exposed to hazardous materials. This means using natural products for, washing dishes and clothes, cleaning kitchen and bathrooms, mopping floors, natural products to keep termites, mosquitoes at bay among other things. The guests have access to the almost one acre property, which includes riverside access. The bedrooms are spacious and have large closets/cupboards and medium sized bathrooms. Some of the knobs don't work in the bathrooms and the water pressure is low. Also we do not have hot-water geysers, water needs to be heated manually in the kitchen.
One of the most magical ways to experience Aymanam is to go kayaking in the early morning - around 6:30 AM. If you decide to go yourself on the kayak (with lifejackets)- this experience is included in the price of your stay. If you need a guide or company, an additional amount will need to be charged by the hour to compensate the person.
As far as activities around- there are local motor boat rides which you can take either in the morning (from 7 AM to 11 AM) or in the afternoon 2/3 PM to 6/7pm to catch blossoming lotus plants, village life through the canals and the sunset view of the lake - from Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary.
Just about 300 meters away is a family chai/tea shop run by a man named Manasan. You get breakfast like Appam, Dosa, Porotta, Puttu- steamed rice, Kadala curry, Chutney, and great coffee and tea. A usual meal (including tea/coffee) will about RS. 70- Rs.100 a person.
Breakfast hours are from 6:30 Am- 10:00 AM.
In the afternoon, they have snacks like plantain fry, vada, bonda, etc. They are usually open 2:30 pm- 4:30 pm. You can still get tea /coffee till a little later. They do not offer dinner options.
I can have our neighborhood rickshaw driver deliver some of the best food in town, or you may order on Swiggy/Zomato. Please keep in mind- how all plastic utensils that come with the delivery need to be washed and stored for pickup by the Panchayat
Buses are the cheapest form of transport, you can catch one to and from Kottayam and costs about Rs. 10.
An auto rickshaw ride to and from town would cost RS. 120- Rs. 150 one way at about Rs. 25/km.
In the other direction we have Kumarakom, which is a popular backwater stop. It is about 13 kms away. You can either catch a rickshaw straight there (15-25 mins) or catch a bus to Kottayam and then to Kumarakom which would take about 30-45 minutes in total (by bus)
Our neighbour drives an auto, so depending on his availability you could go with him from the house.
