Things to do The small village of Amberley sits conveniently on the edge of Minchinhampton Common, a sprawling mass of grassland with views across the land. Make sure you say hello to the Cows who roam free around the cottage. Amberley has two pubs, a church and not much else. In 10 minute’s drive (walkable too) you’ll find two market towns which both offer boutique shopping, supermarkets, restaurants, galleries and cafes. (Nailsworth and Stroud). Note that the cottage is part of a historic terrace which was built before cars, so parking is a short (1 minute) walk down a path way. If you need help carrying your bags just let us know and we can arrange it. You will be nestled in a sleepy village with neighbours - so please no parties. There are plenty of pubs within walking distance and if you want to turn up the volume some of them often have live music.
We loved everything about our stay here. The quality and beauty of the house and location was reflective of the pride and care Katie rightfully take of this wonderful spot. We’d definitely return if the opportunity presents itself again!
Wow. The most beautiful house in the most beautiful location. Everything about the house was stunning and Katie and Tash were so welcoming and helpful. Will definitely be back.
The cottage is so so beautiful and exactly as it looks in the photos! It is the perfect place for a peaceful city break surrounded by greenery, a lovely local pub and very friendly neighbours. You definitely need a car to get around but it’s only a 10 minute drive from Stroud centre and 20 minutes from Cirencester. Katie was extremely responsive and helpful and provided some great recommendations on things to do in the area. My family and I will definitely be back here!!
Our cottage is in the sought after hilltop village of Amberley. With its stunning cotswold houses, quaint church, and a few pubs it is the perfect cotswold bolthole set amidst beautiful countryside.
There are two pubs within a five minute stroll from the house which not only offer outstanding views but also serve great pub food. It is also the home of a few celebrity faces, but shhhsh we didn't tell you that!
A longer walk or short drive can be taken down to the charming market town of Nailsworth with its artisan shops, award winning bakery, supermarket and multiple fantastic restaurants. We love the food at the famous fishmongers ‘Williams Kitchen.’ Beware the walk back home is steep - perfect for walking off all the food. (Nailsworth is roughly 35 walk there and 45 on the way home)
