Wonderful stay. Elizabeth could not have been more friendly or helpful during our visit. The apartment above the barn was warm and cozy with ample room. Everything needed for cooking was available in the kitchen/dining area. It was a great staging area for our day trips and hiking adventures. The property was a great place to get out and explore with our golden retriever.
Another wonderful stay at Elizabeth and Phillip’s barn apt. Our dog Spur had a great time Texas and misses him already. He had plenty to do on the nearby mountain biking trails, rail trail, Lake St. Cathrine and visiting surrounding towns. Elizabeth and Phillip are gracious, welcoming and fun to be around. Can’t wait for our next stay!
Gorgeous, spacious, clean apartment with everything you could possibly need and lots of other stuff you didn't even know you needed. Adorable surrounding towns, nearby farm stands, and the rail trail is practically on their property. I think part of it actually IS on their property. Use a mountain bike or something else with equally fat tires. It's doable with a road bike, but your butt will not enjoy it. Mine did not. And bring bug spray if you're the type upon whom biting insects like to feast. Elizabeth and Philip were friendly, accommodating, responsive, and just plain fantastic hosts. They've also got the goofiest golden retriever who thinks he's the one running the show, but no one ever really told him he's not. I still think he deserves a raise. If I ever find myself up that way again, I'd absolutely stay with them.
This place is a gem. Elizabeth and Philip are lovely individuals, and made me feel right at home, even inviting me for a glass of wine and tour of the property when I first arrived. The weather was cold and rainy the entire two weeks, but the space still felt very light, bright, warm, and welcoming. Entire space was very clean, with a comfortable bed, great water pressure for showers, uncluttered with plenty of space to unpack. I used the empty closet space for my own stuff - much appreciated! The location was perfect for my needs. A short walk across the lawn and you are on the Rail Trail which is perfect for walking and biking for miles. The property itself has wonderful walking, hiking with scenic views, and great areas for a picnic. I did not get outdoors to explore as much as I had hoped to, but there is plenty to do. I cannot wait to come back in July to explore when the weather is nicer, to feast on berries, and to visit with a couple of the nicest people around.
My son and I called this our “Farm stay” and it was amazing. Prior to check in Elizabeth was very proactive with check in and communication. Coming into the Barn and apartment was so warming and clear and impressive. Beds were comfy and the couch was amazing to lounge. We don’t have a big TV so it was fun to have such a big screen to recharge in front of. We played the board games there too, the floor is so beautiful to play on with my toddler and the back door was perfect for letting our dog go in and out … though be sure to read the instructions and practice the lock, especially if you have a smart furry friend. Our pup played great with the house pup and it was such a fun place to watch my bullet speed dog fly across the big fields. The hills are perfect for sledding, the adult hill out back is AMAZING!, and so fun for kids in the front. My son rode in the tractor with Philip and said, this is the most amazing place ever! We were blessed to stay here and meet E, P, and T ! ! ! ! !
132 acres of forest and field give you lots to hike and explore. The Delaware & Hudson Rail trail entry is visible from the bedroom window, and a four-mile hike / bike ride / XC ski in either direction takes you into the center of a scenic town.
You're out in the country here, and a car is required. Groceries only 3 miles away in Poultney and Fair Haven. Lakes Bomoseen and St. Catherine are a 10 minute drive. Rutland is 20 minutes on the highway. Killington ski resort is 40 minutes away.
