A quaint and cheerful two bedroom cottage for 4, nestled in the midst of a small orchard of guava & mango trees. This 5 acre plot is privately owned & the owners live in a Bungalow adjoining the cottage. The living & dining area are charmingly decorated with slate flooring. Both bedrooms are fully carpeted to ensure warmth in the winters. The living room has a large sofa-double bed which is comfortable for one. Bedroom 2, on the first floor has 2 attached balconies, a sitting area & bathroom. Ideal for small families of 3 or 4, looking to get away from the cities for an extended period. There is a significant discount for bookings of a month or more. Bookings of 30 days or more are considered long term stays & the monthly charges are INR 55,000. Monthly charges with one or more pets are INR 75,000 Those booking the cottage for long term stays are welcome to host family & friends but we request that you restrict the same so that there are no more than 4 guests in the cottage at any given time & restrict the additional guests to below 2 weeks. Also great for a group of students & young adults looking for an extended break. No groups of only boys are allowed. Pet friendly & an ideal place for those looking for total seclusion & solitude, peace & quiet. No strangers allowed on the property & you do not see anyone for miles if you don't wish to. (The property is located on top of a small hill that is driven upto from the main road.) We provide welcome complimentary snacks & refreshments depending upon the time of arrival. The fridge in your cottage will be stocked with breakfast consisting of Bread, Butter, Eggs, Jam, Cheese, Milk, Tea & Coffee for bookings less than 7 days. If anything additional is required, it needs to be requested for at a fee. Lunch & Dinner are also provided at a fee but that needs to be requested for beforehand. Timings:- 1. Breakfast- 8 am to 10 am. 2. Lunch - 12:30 pm to 2 Pm. 3. Dinner - 7:30 pm to 9 pm. The property is a 40 minute drive from Dharamsala Airport. Direct flights to Dharamsala are available from Delhi & from Chandigarh & from Amritsar. Taxis are available in plenty at the airport & cost 1000 INR for the drop off from Dharamsala Airport to Darang. For those who want to travel by train, the station to get off is Pathankot or Pathankot Cantt (Both are good). It takes a little over 2 hours to get to Darang from Pathankot by Innova & Taxi Fare INR 3000. The route to follow is Pathankot - Kangra - Palampur. Darang is around 40 minutes BEFORE Palampur on the Kangra - Palampur route. There is also a new Vande Bharat Express Train which takes 6 hours from Delhi to Amb. Amb is a 2 hour drive from Darang. Taxi Fare from Amb to Darang - INR 3000 Train No 22448 from NDLS (New Delhi Railway Station) to AADR (Amb Andaura). We provide boiled water & a filter in which guests can filter their own drinking water, ( which we drink ourselves.) We do not provide RO water as that involves a lot of wastage of water. Those seeking bottled water will have to make their own arrangements for the same or we can do it if requested for beforehand. Pets are welcome but we do not provide food for them unless requested for beforehand. There is a largish enclosed, fenced garden around 3000 sq yards where the pets can walk around & be safe as well. The guests will have the entire cottage to themselves. The kitchen is well organized & fully equipped with a fridge, oven, kettle, microwave, cooking range, pots, pans, crockery and cutlery & basic cooking essentials like oil, salt, spices etc. There is one bedroom and bathroom each on the ground floor and first floor respectively. The first floor has a 7 kg washing machine and a terrace alongside for drying clothes. There is another balcony towards the front of the bedroom which is a nice spot to enjoy a cup of tea and the view. There is a bookshelf & reading area on the first floor, stocked with books & magazines & boardgames as well. Another area for a private workstation with a large desk and chair completes the first floor bedroom. The ground floor has a large bedroom with windows on 2 sides which brings a lot of warm sunlight into the room. The attached bathroom is modern and well designed. Both bedrooms are provided with heaters and electric blankets in the winter. Both bedrooms also have large cupboards which are exclusively for the use of guests. Both bedrooms are provided with coolers as well in the summer. The living room is comfortable and well carpeted & is equipped with a 42 inch TV and Cable TV. There is a large sofa -double bed which is very comfortable for one. There is also an attached dining area with a (4 chair) dining table. The Cottage has a bookshelf & reading area on the first floor, stocked with books & magazines & boardgames as well. A patio area outside is very comfortable to enjoy all 3 meals in good weather, with a 4 seater dining table. There is also a wonderful outdoor seating area which is great for bonfires in the evening. There is an additional charge for bonfire arrangements & this needs to be requested for beforehand. Guests are free to enjoy walks on the 3.5 acre property. There are also several very beautiful walks that guests can discover for themselves around & outside the property. Once a week cleaning of the cottage is included in the rental fee, along with changing of the sheets & towels. Assistance with washing machine usage is provided once a week by the staff, washing of the dishes is not included, unless the food is ordered from the main kitchen of the guest house. If cleaning is required more than once a week, it can be provided at an additional cost. A cook can be hired from the local village at the existing rates. We can provide assistance with the same. We are an environment friendly homestay & most of the vegetables & fruits are organically grown on our farm. We have kept the minimum stay as 3 nights in order to reduce the carbon footprint. (Wastage of water in washing linen & towels etc that are used for just one night). Free parking available on the property for residential guests. For those traveling with drivers/chauffeurs &/or helpers, arrangements can be made for accommodation with all 3 meals @ Rs 500 per day per staff. (Though most guests are generally out for lunch, but in the case they are not.) The nearest eateries (where food can be ordered from), grocery store & petrol pump are less than a Kilometer away. The nearest village market is 1.5 km away. However, as we are located on top of a small hill, you can't see or hear any of the noise below, until you drive down the motor road to main road below. Yoga mats are available for both outdoor & indoor Yoga. The property is a 50 minute drive from - McLeod Ganj and about 1.5 hours from the Bir paragliding resort. However, please do not consider this as a recommendation for the Bir paragliding resort as there have been several safety & negligence issues in the recent past. There are 3 full-time residential staff on the property & I spend my time back & forth between Delhi & around 3 months of the year on the property.
