The neighbours are super friendly and willing to help you if you need anything. The General Store is two houses away and provides food, coffee, newspapers, post, alcohol, frozen food, ice-creams, fishing equipment and basic pharmacy items. The Goughs Bay Caravan Park has a lovely outdoor area to enjoy your morning coffee, grab fish n chips or a pizza at night, as well is a fave for the children to grab an ice-cream. They are open in the summer months. The Mansfield Zoo is only 5 minutes up the road towards Mansfield and allows children to hand feed some of the animals (but not the white lions!). There is a lovely hedge maze just as you enter Goughs Bay which has an art gallery, coffee and a lunch cafe. The Delatite Winery won the 2023 Commercial Architecture award for its new restaurants and cellar door. There's a fitness centre just passed the Caravan Park, and if you walk a little further, you'll get to Picnic Point. Possibly the best view of the lake in Goughs Bay. The Goughs The Goughs Bay Boat Club is open for guests and members a few nights a week as a pub, but also some of the locals cook up a feast of country cooking on some Friday and Saturday nights (currently closed for renovations until June 2024). It’s a 15 minute drive into Mansfield for restaurants, pubs, the Mansfield Hospital, Mansfield Golf Club, the weekend market, and the bus back to Melbourne.
Local walks include: Bracks Bridge on the Delatite River for a picnic (21 minutes away), the High Country Maze and Gardens where there is a resident artist, a gallery of other local artists, coffee, lunch, the beautiful maze and gardens (16 minutes away), or if you're ambitious, you can do the local fire tracks on Frys Bay Road to see some magical lake views.

Goughs Bay is accessible by car. There is a public bus service from Melbourne to Mansfield, and taxis do drive from Mansfield to Goughs Bay (around $50 one way) if you want a drink or two at some of the Mansfield pubs. There is also an airport on the Mansfield-Woods Point Road for light aircraft and helicopters. Friends can be anywhere around the lake and hop on their boat or jet-ski to meet you at Goughs Bay... much quicker than by road.
