If you're going to New River Gorge to see natural beauty, it is literally in Colleen's backyard. I cannot overstate how perfect the location is. Colleen was a great host as well. Friendly, quick to respond, and knows the area well. Highly recommended.
It's a great house with a full kitchen. It was very clean, the towels and bedding were very nice too. For climbing, you can walk to Rico Suave buttress which is a great crag. There's also some very nice cats that will join you on the porch.
We loved staying at Colleen’s place with our two kids: basically 3 and 5. There were a few toys and books available for them which was a nice surprise, plenty of outdoor space for them to explore, and a wide and open floor plan with lots of bedrooms and beds and a wraparound covered porch for when the rain was falling. Despite being out of the way and private, it was a short drive to town, the park, food and breweries, and it was one street over from the best viewpoint we hiked, Longpoint (she had trail maps available as well which helped a lot). Colleen was easy to get a hold of and quick to respond despite being out of town and had someone else ready to help if we needed it. We would absolutely stay here again if we came back to the gorge. Wish we brought more people because it could have hosted a lot more comfortably! We don’t watch a ton of TV at home, but It has no place on a family adventure: don’t be afraid of no TV and enjoy your family and friends. Thank you!
Amazing location! Private and peaceful but close to everywhere we wanted to go. The pictures didn’t do this place justice. Way nicer on the inside. The kids loved all the little beds and the toys available. Plenty of space for every one. Would stay here again.
