Once famously known as The Fredrickson Music House, it was the musical heart of the Bay Area, providing respite to a large group of local and traveling folk musicians and devotees. Visitors might walk in the front door to a jam session of bluegrass in the living room, blues in the bedroom, and country or roots music on the deck. The House is in a wonderful, quiet neighborhood, a minute's walk to public transportation, award-winning restaurants, movie theaters, weekly farmers market, and the UC Berkeley campus. Short, easy 1/2 hour commute to San Francisco. It is perfect for a multigenerational family reunion, a graduation or wedding gathering, a work retreat or conference, or families traveling with kids. Fully stocked gourmet kitchen, including a large array of spices, condiments, teas, and coffee. The dining room table seats 8 but can be extended on request during booking to seat 10-12. We are also happy to help arrange for a local Chef to prepare a gourmet meal for your gathering. The house has a washer, dryer, towels, and bedding. There are three stories. Bedroom 1, the Blue room on the first floor, has a full bed, private bathroom, entrance, and deck. Bedrooms 2-5 are on the second floor, with a shared bathroom, laundry, and TV room. Bedroom 2, the Red Room with Gold Ceiling, has a queen bed. Bedroom 3, the Orange room, has a queen bed, round window, and fireplace (not functional). Bedroom 4, the Burgundy room, has a Queen bed. Bedroom 5, the laundry and TV room with deck, has a full pullout futon. Bedroom 6, the attic, has a queen bed and a full pullout couch. There are two full bathrooms (one each on the first and second floors). There are work areas, common gathering spaces, and internet access throughout. The hosts are avid gardeners (one is a Master Gardener with a certificate in Permaculture Design) and have created a wonderful oasis of flowers, herbs, gurgling water fountains, butterflies, songbirds, and hummingbirds. There are several areas to sit throughout the garden, including a gathering area around a central firepit and grill. Consider it your gateway to Northern California and the Bay Area. It's an easy day trip to San Francisco, Alcatraz, Golden Gate National Park, the Redwoods, and numerous beaches, museums, and music festivals. And Yosemite is just a three-hour drive away. Parking is two hours only in front of the house M-F from 9am to 5pm and then free all evening and on weekends. However, there is also unlimited parking just one block south and west of the house. The hosts have traveled extensively and have lived abroad and understand how much a wonderful host and a special place to stay can make on any trip. If the house looks perfect but the available dates are off by a few days with your plans, or you are arriving late or super early and need a different check-in time just let us know and we will see what we can do. $100 off if you are up for feeding and occasionally petting our two cats Astrid and Loki during your stay.o
