A beautiful, spacious 200yr old renovated Cornish farmhouse and large garden, in a tranquil location above Mousehole Comfy throughout with spacious, light open plan living area, & island kitchen Relax in the large garden and open courtyard Kids will love the swing, trampoline, playhouse, and trees Tucked away up a bridleway, close to Mousehole, Penzance and stunning beaches such as Sennen Cove You will need to look after our friendly cat, Thunder, and may collect eggs! Our home is a 200 year old, 3 bedroom, renovated farmhouse in the far west of Cornwall. It has loads of character, a very large garden, and sits above the traditional fishing villages of Mousehole and Newlyn. Nearby are hidden coves, fabulous surf beaches, prehistoric stone circles and glorious walks. It is available to rent for a few weeks only, during the summer. It has been renovated and extended to combine the cosiness of an old Cornish cottage with an open and sunny kitchen and living area. The large garden is a hit with kids and adults alike. It is finished to a high standard, including bespoke handmade oak kitchen, including recycled joists from the house, and planks from the historic Newlyn fishing boat Rosebud. It is ideal for a family. The neighbourhood is quiet, so it isn’t suitable for noisy parties. You will need to look after our cat, Thunder. He has a cat flap, but will also ask to be let in and out. You will need to top up his food & water bowls. He is very affectionate and gets lonely if left on his own. In the past he has been a big hit with guests. He will sleep on the beds if allowed. We also have chickens (and a duck), but you won't need to look after them although you may enjoy their eggs. Three bedrooms: Large bedroom with king sized double bed Large child's bedroom with a double bed and high sleeper above Medium child's bedroom with single bed (and a secret passage) A large well-equipped kitchen, opening into a high ceilinged sunny dining & living room. Cosy snug lounge in the centre of the house with an inglenook woodburner, ideal for evenings in. 2 bathrooms: Upstairs bathroom with a deep bath Downstairs bathroom with shower ¾ acre garden with swing, trampoline, sauna, BBQ, wooded area, orchard, & lots of secret corners. South facing patio courtyard. BBQ and a firebowl that can be used in the courtyard or in the garden. Garden furniture for al fresco dining. Rangemaster cooker with gas hobs and electric oven. Washing machine, dishwasher & microwave. Centrally heated with underfloor heating and radiators. Heating & hot water by eco-friendly wood pellet boiler, & woodburning stoves. WiFi throughout house 49" TV, DVD player, stereo with airport express and line inputs so you can play music from your own devices. Plenty of car parking Solar PV panels providing eco-electricity. In the best traditions of AirBnB you are renting a family home rather than a commercial let. It is finished and presented to a high standard but there will be some signs of family life. We hope that you will enjoy it all the more for that. Please do look after it and let us know if anything is damaged. The garden is played in by our children and their friends. It contains trees and stuff to climb and swing on. It is not 100% risk free, and you use it at your own risk, including the tree house. As mentioned, you will need to look after our cat, Thunder. You will need a car to get the most out of staying in our house. We live up a farm track, which is suitable for any ordinary car (which is what we have). If your car has a low clearance you will need to take extra care. Sadly, our house is not wheelchair accessible.
This really was one of the best AirBnB’s I have ever been in. There were 2 adults sharing a bedroom and 3 sons (16, 14 and 11). The house is beautifully decorated and designed, with lovely plants, pictures, lights and interesting objects and features. In the kitchen we had everything we could possible need for cooking, storing and cleaning. And the garden is lovely, with clucking chickens and a friendly (trouble-free!) cat. We played lots of ping pong although my children were (or felt!) a bit grown up for the tree house. The house is up a country lane, surrounded by fields and trees. We drove to our various destinations but we could have walked to Mousehole if we had wanted to. We love this end of Cornwall so loads to do within 15 mins drive. Gill really did everything she could to make us feel welcome and, although we were very aware that we were in another family’s home, we felt at ease completely. In summary….a really lovely, interesting, cozy and welcoming place to stay.
We had a wonderful week in this beautiful farmhouse. The garden was a real highlight for our three children, particularly the trampoline, which was used every day at all sorts of times and in all weathers! The house itself was perfect for our needs and although the track to get to the house was a little tricky to get used to, I was a pro by the end of the week! Super hosts who made sure the house was welcoming, with lots of appreciated touches, like leaving out washing and dishwashing supplies. Looking after the cat and being able to check for eggs every day just added to our holiday experience. Thanks very much.
Fantastic house and gardens with extensive amenities and in a peaceful location but still easy to get to Newlyn, Mousehole, Penzance and the surrounding areas. Gill is a great host, friendly and helpful. Cannot fault - was a fantastic holiday and I would highly recommend.
Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. Despite the Cornish weather we had an incredible time. We all loved our experience at your home.
Fantastic property. Incredible farm house with quirky touches and great attention to detail, from the brass window fastenings to the garden hammock! Very child friendly, our children loved the trampoline, mezzanine, monkey bars and exploring the huge garden. The property is very private and secluded but Mousehole is within walking distance and lovely beaches and other attractions a short drive away.
There is so much to do in West Cornwall and further afield. From beaches to moorland, quiet coves and picturesque fishing villages. St Ives with shops, restaurants, beaches and the famous Tate Gallery. Eden Project is an hour away.
Beaches:
There are loads of beaches from harbour coves to wide expanses of sand. Our favourites are:
Mousehole Beach - within the harbour: safe and sheltered for younger children to play.
Sennen Cove, near Lands End: huge sandy beach. Good surf, cafe, toilets, pub and other facilities right on the beach.
Porthcurno: On the south coast near Minack Theatre is another beautiful sandy beach, more sheltered than Sennen.
Walking:
The Coast path runs for hundreds of miles from Dorset to Minehead. All of it is fabulous, but we are blessed with some of the finest stretches.
Also walks inland across the moors.
Villages & towns:
Mousehole - famous fishing village. Safe beach, pubs, art galleries and shops.
Newlyn - the fishing port and together with St Ives heart of Cornwall's artistic communities.
St Ives - you can easily spend a day or two. Beautiful beaches such as Porthminster & Porthgwidden, each with fabulous bistro cafes; Tate St Ives; shops, etc
Pubs - Lots! Some of our favourites for food and or drinks include
The Old Success in Sennen
The Old Coastguard in Mousehole
The Ship Inn in Mousehole
The Tinners Arms in Zennor
The North Inn in Pendeen
The Gurnards Head on the north coast
Admiral Benbow and The Union pubs in town.
Ancient Sites
There are many standing stones in Cornwall, dating back thousands of years.
We also have pre-historic villages such as Carn Euny.
Formal Gardens: Cornwall is famous for these. Local ones include Trengwainton and Trewidden. Many are at their best in spring.
Penzance station 10 minutes drive away. Direct trains to London throughout the day, and a sleeper service.
Newquay airport 45 minutes drive away.
Trains to St Ives, Falmouth & Eden Project.
自我介绍
I live in Cornwall with my husband Seamus and our daughters who are 15 & 11 I work at Eden Project, where I help kids and their teachers spend more time outside and interacting with the natural world Seamus is a local family doctor. We love living in this beautiful part of the world, especially playing on the beach; walking the coast paths; surfing, cycling, or hanging out in the garden and toasting marshmallows over a fire at home
