I hesitate to recommend The Fly Room, because I want it to be available like it has often been for me and my buddy! It's truly ideal for us being able to conveniently fish the San Juan during the day, then having a place to cook some dinner, tie some flies and rest before another day of fishing. I already knew the location, but locating it for our initial visit (three trips ago?) was a little challenging with online mapping. We cooked some steaks and a few bait-water trout for dinner on the propane grill the first night (the fish couldn't be much fresher--caught them, threw them on ice, cleaned them and ate them all within 2 hours), then came back and collapsed on the beds after a full second day of fishing. It's a great spot if you just need a place to sleep and to make some breakfast before heading out or to hang out after sunset and recount the day. Maybe it was tucked in the desk, but the hard-mounted fly tying vice that wasn't there this time around. Minor issue, great stay!

My nephew and I stayed here for a late January bow hunt in unit 2B. I was a bit concerned about being cold in this area as temps can dip below zero. Steve’s cozy heater had no problem keeping up with the cold. I would definitely recommend for hunting and any other outdoor activities around this area. We plan on making a trip back for some fishing at some point!

This place is so good for what it is. If I didn't like the host so much I wouldn't leave a review and keep this in my book of gems. For the money, you can not go wrong here. Its a 1 room fishing cabin with a full kitchen, you cant go wrong.Those classic VHS tapes of fly fishing you have....bring them there's a VCR! Its the perfect crash pad.

Great Place for resting your head, grabbing a shower, quick meal and a good night sleep! Only place we stay when fishing the San Juan river
