Wir haben die Zeit in diesem schön eingerichteten Häuschen sehr genossen. Auch bei eisigem und windigen Wetter hatten wir so eine super base um uns eine gemütliche Zeit zu machen. Gudrun und Ottir haben sich auch proaktiv wegen wichtiger Wettermeldungen gemeldet - das war super! Alles in allem ein super Aufenthalt für uns und wirklich empfehlenswert.

The house is a home away from home, fully equipped with all the essentials, very comfortable for a three-day stay. The kitchen has everything needed to prepare meals, which is important since Þingeyri has limited or no dining options. Bring groceries with you. Our hosts communicated well and provided helpful advice promptly. Highly recommended. The fjord is the most beautiful of all the fjords we saw in Westfjords (and we saw many). We hiked road 622 west and the scenery was awesome. Concerning access, we were surprised to find that highway 60 alternated between splendid paved portions and dreadful (for a 2-wheel drive) long gravel portions. The route 61 via Ísafjörður is longer in distance but not in hours (our maps app was misleading for highway 60), and is an entirely paved and a more serene drive for a small car.

This is a great place to base yourself in the Westfjords. Thingeyri is a cute, quiet and picturesque village. Lots of activities are just at your fingertips. We did a horseback trail ride and a private superjeep tour during our stay. The home itself has everything you might need, and we loved the seating area by the window upstairs. The only thing to keep in mind is that it’s central location means that you are on the “main” road in town, so if you’re sitting downstairs it sometimes feels like a fishbowl with people walking by. That won’t necessarily bother everyone! But we loved how much character this house had, and appreciated all the amenities.

What a privilege to be able to stay at Guðrún & Óttar’s beautiful home in the West Fjords. This is a wonderful place to relax in after a day exploring the area. The house is spacious, comfortable, light-filled, beautifully-decorated and welcoming. We love the arts there. The piano is an added bonus, as both my children play. On the side of the fjord and underneath towering mountains, the location is perfect. We took many photos of the gorgeous sunset just off the pier from the house. It is also within a short walk to the visitor centre (next door), a gas station/grocery store and a wonderful cafe where we rented our off road mountain bikes to ride to the lighthouse. Our generous hosts are absolutely super. They responded quickly to all our questions, advised us on places to visit, and even let us harvest lettuces and herbs from their garden for our salads. This was completely way beyond expectations, in addition to fresh and delicious. Thank you Guðrún & Óttar for letting us stay in your beautiful and lovely home. We can't wait to come back one day.

Super gemütliches und liebevoll eingerichtetes kleines Haus im Fischerort Thingery. Die Kommunikation mit den Gastgebern funktionierte einwandfrei, wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt dort!
