This apartment is attached to the main house but with separate entrance. You will enjoy a fully-equipped kitchen, 1 bedrooms in the second floor, living room and terrace with BBQ. Guests have access to the pool and gardens. The old bread oven gives the appartment a romantic atmosphere. The entrance of the gites is not overlooked by the main house or the other gites. The magnificent view over the Charente river and the relaxing environment will allow you to relax and enjoy the countryside. The house and its outbuildings are built in locally quarried stone and in parts are many centuries old. The calm is only disturbed by the birds, the neighbor's cows and the occasional train passing by the house.

Nous étions en famille : une fille de 4 ans et des jumelles de un an et demi. L'environnement de ce logement est superbe : beau parc et piscine très agréable. Certaines personnes peuvent être gênées par le train qui passe juste en dessous de la propriété, quasiment au même niveau que la piscine. Cela ne nous a pas dérangé. Le logement ne convient pas pour une famille : sdb avec toilettes dans la mezzanine à laquelle on accède par un escalier extrêmement pentu sans possibilité d'en bloquer l'accès pour les enfants notamment une fois en haut. La propreté n'est pas optimum et on remarque que c'est un logement ancien et rénové de manière assez superficielle (sdb, cuisine rudimentaires peu fonctionnelles). Les équipements sont vieillissants. Pas de volets sur les velux. Ce logement convient pour un couple peu regardant sur ces détails qui pourra profiter de l'extérieur. L'hôte est très réactif c'est appréciable. Sans enfants nous aurions profité davantage du lieu qui a du potentiel.
Bon rapport qualité/prix avec l'extérieur et la piscine ensoleillée ! Hôte discret mais toujours réactif et disponible par rapport à nos besoins ! Pour les "fous du réseau mobile", on ne capte pas très bien. Pour nous, ce n'était pas l'essentiel puisque nous nous sommes dépaysés ! Le logement est entouré de fermes agricoles et bovines, il y a énormément de mouches présentes pendant les grosses chaleurs, si cela vous gêne, prévoyez à l'avance. Mention spéciale : Nous recommandons aux prochains locataires d'aller déjeuner ou dîner à l'Auberge des Glycines présents sur le bord de la Charente. C'est le meilleur restaurant que nous avons fait de notre voyage !
L'environnement verdoyant du logis est très agréable. La piscine également. Le train qui passe au pied de la propriété (environ ttes les 1/2h...) peut surprendre mais on l'oublie vite. En revanche, le potentiel et le charme authentique mériteraient d'être mieux entretenus. Meubles brinquebalants, literie peu confortable, velux HS... etc ... Quel dommage !

Lovely countryside neighborhood. You will enjoy the experience of living in a peaceful environment where you only hear the sound of singing birds, cows and other farm animals and the regional train that passes occationally by the house.
Nearby are the river port of St. Savinien, the ancient town of Saintes, La Rochelle and the Ile de Re in the Atlantic coast. This region is famous for its coastal forts and oyster farms offering its visitors the freshest Atlantic fish and sea food.
Fishing, cycling, boating and other water-sports are locally accessible.
River fishing is literally at the bottom of the garden. Licences available in Taillebourg or online. The 18-hole golf course, at Fontcouverte, is a 15 min drive from Taillebourg and the Golf de Royan which is within 50 min attainable by car.
There are also many Chateaux to visit such as La Roche Courbon, Panloy, Crazannes and more.
Furthermore, in Cognac and the Bordeaux region you can visit their world famous wineries and cognac distilleries.
To visit La Brossardière you will need to come by car! If you come from far away you could arrive by plane to the nearest airports, in Bordeaux (136 km) and La Rochelle (71 km), where you can rent a car. If you prefer travelling by train you can arrive by the TGV from Paris stopping in Angouleme .
